Oct '24 visit:

One of my new top 3 pizza places in Sydney!

Funguy ($26) - truffle cream, mixed mushrooms, mozza & thyme - sometimes white pizza sauces are too heavy, but the truffle cream here is quite light yet smells very good and enhances the shroominess of the whole pizza. I love the cheese - I think there were chunks of pecorino in there - which hold their shape and offer some bite, not just stretch like mozzarella does. And the sprigs of dried thyme are genius - the herb adds warmth, earthiness and also helps cut through that cheese and cream a little.

Gamberi ($29) - grape tomato, prawns, stracciatella, rocket, chilli oil & almonds - I'm not the biggest fan of prawn (or seafood more generally) on pizza as it's liable to be squeaky and overcooked and I just don't think seafood is showcased best through being dry-baked, but this one was good. The marinara sauce is unlike your average marinara sauce - it has a natural sweetness from grape tomatoes - a very fresh, bright taste, not a dull, one-dimensional herby old tomato flavour. The prawns were fine. The rocket blended in softly rather than asserting itself with bitter dominance. The slivered almonds were a nice touch. Admittedly it was a teeny bit soggy from the amount of sauce, but I also think the moistness tied this whole thing together - it also preserved the moisture and juiciness of the prawns and gave them a chance to infuse their prawny essence into the sauce and rest of the pizza.

The dough had a nice chew and good flavour. Will...

New restaurant to hit Maroubra (very exciting!) The pizza dough was fantastic—light and perfectly airy crust. The toppings fell short. The hot pepperoni (with hot honey) was overly sweet and over powered the whole dish while the marinara lacked seasoning.

The special pizza (pesto, stracciatella, tomatoes, and lemon) was a great concept but needed bolder pesto, garlic, and better-seasoned seasoned toms. Overall the pizzas just lacked seasoning and balance. With a few tweaks, this place could...

There's good and bad things about having the best pizza in Sydney in your suburb. The good thing is you can have the best pizza in Sydney whenever you like. The bad thing is you can have the best pizza in Sydney whenever you like. You do start growing sideways at quite a rapid rate with a BSP in your suburb. BSP has also ruined me for all other pizza, nothing else will satisfy me. You absolutely have to try the Uncle Charlie, and we always get whatever special is on as well and they've...

Dined in for the first time. To be honest was a bit disappointed. I'm not sure if it's because we arrived early, just after opening and perhaps the oven wasn't fully cranked but pizza was a bit under done. The crust of the Uncle Charlie was not airy. Instead pasty and somewhat heavy. The dough maybe too wet. The pepperoni pizza was cooked a bit better but not 100% On the up side, ingredients are good quality, the warldorf salad very fresh and yummy and the staff really friendly and efficient.
