Bought 2 “curry pies” over heated so- Pies with blackened pastry and centre dehydrated, rubbery.Complained about quality of pie. Staff didn’t know what filling was and quote” it’s not meat or vegetable it’s curry” “Indians like it”-“ I’m not the chef” was the response from staff-this is poorly trained staff with no product knowledge. A poor experience with non food professionals. This is the first time I have left a review but as the experience was alarming in a disgraceful manner I thought it best to act. I have contacted management about the experience because I want to know what they are selling as a filling in a Curry Pie if it is not Meat or Vegetable what is it?
Management reached out and indicated the machines that heated pies were worth $10000.00 the staff must have used wrong setting to heat Pies, no apology or admission about staff product knowledge was entered by management. Management issued a full credit for the cost of pies, management’s response was in a timely fashion.
Whilst management attended due diligence I suggest there remains an underlying challenge; staff need product knowledge and training to provide accurate information at point of sale. The community is at risk own to allergic responses food intolerances and religious practices that exclude certain ingredients, Christopher’s Cake Shop Kogarah needs to step up and account for the ingredients in the...
Read moreWe always look forward to enjoying a great mille-feuille with our afternoon tea. We can get a reasonably good one at our local cake shop, but decided we would pay double and buy 2, of what we thought would be "top quality" ones from Christophers at Kogarah... so we made the trip. When we got them home it was so disappointing to find the pastry, which should be crispy and flakey to be soggy and limp. I usually turn them over on their side and cut them in half. (We find its the best way to cut through the pastry without squashing the custard). But when we tried it, the pastry was so stale that the whole thing just caved in. Seriously? I wouldn't want those mille-feuilles if you gave them to us for free! I don't know how old they were, but Christopher, if you want to maintain a good reputation, this is not how to go about it... especially when you are charging premium prices. I called and complained, but the response left me feeling that they were use to complaints and, even though she apologised, could only say that she would definitely pass on the feedback. Thanks... that really helps. I would have preferred to hear something like that she would remove the rest of them from their display immediately... AT THE VERY LEAST! Their displays are so inviting and we contemplated trying different cakes in the future......
Read moreVery rude staff at the hurstville store would barely look at me whilst I was In the store , to which also once I approached a staff member the young girl corrected me on my pronunciation of macaroons (which they weren't) . I'm sorry but if you work in a cake shop have the professionalism to know what you are selling. Just because the name Macaroon is trendy dosent make it correct for the dessert you are selling at over $3 each!) - which is overly inflated. as per to you ignorance and rudeness see statement below. Good day :)
Let’s start with the basics: A macaron (pronounced mack-a-ROHN) is a confection made up of two round, flat, almond-flour-based cookies sandwiching an emulsified filling like ganache or jam. Any variation in color or flavor is simply a variation in the filling, plus some food coloring added to the shells. A macaroon (two os; pronounced mack-a-ROON) is a mounded cookie made with shredded coconut and often dipped in chocolate. Two very different cookies, two very different appearances, flavors, and recipes—but with remarkably similar...
