I really like doing my weekly grocery shopping at East Village. The Coles is new and really big inside. I usually leave my car to get cleaned in the underground parking station while I shop. There is also a variety of specialty stores which is really handy. They have a pharmacy, newsagent, butcher, fish shop, fruit market, Asian grocery store, hair and beauty salons, barber, etc. There is also a variety of places to eat like sushi, dumplings, cafes, pizza, juice, etc. The butcher also makes some really nice meals which are great to take home and eat. #wheelchairaccessible #shoppingcentre #letsguide

This shopping center has the worst amenities. The toilets are neither clean nor well-maintained, yet they are closed for an hour every time they need cleaning. I waited to see how long the process would take, and in that time, nearly 50 people—including pregnant women—had to leave without access. It’s beyond me why they need to close all the toilets at once. The management should address this issue.

Service was very slow. We asked for table water 3 times, eventually 4 glasses out 5 were filled..we then had to ask 2 more times for last glass to filled! Cutlery not served but we had the meals so you guessed it we asked for them as well... So a bit disappointed. Crab linguine was ok and the steak wasnt bad. Gnocchi and arancini balls are worth a try.

I like East Village Shopping Centre because it’s wheelchair accessible, has basics like a chemist, Coles, butcher and greengrocer, but also has cafes. Our next closest is Broadway Shopping Centre and it’s harder to get to and spread out over 4 stories making it exhausting to get around and grab the basics, especially as I am in a wheelchair.

There’s decent quality here and I can get gluten free or specialist items from The Source Bulk Foods or Taste Growers Market. Even the Coles here has a large Gluten free section, health foods etc.

There’s not really a food court as such, but there’s some tables and chairs. The Fish monger has wonderful offerings and also do excellent fish and chips. (Better than some restaurants I had been too.) There’s a sushi place too and I shall try it sometime.

Bowen Island cafe has great coffee, hot chocolate and cakes. There’s not much on offer though for gluten free like me. Skip the friand, overly sweet and not much flavour. I haven’t tried the other cafes and restaurants yet, but I plan to.

Downstairs to the left of the lifts is a big pet store which is easy to access. We now pop in here to get our bunnies their hay, treats and litter.

The first two hours...

My wife and larger family of mine including grandchildren love East Village and visit the centre at least three times a week. I am however appalled at the lack of disrespect by drivers who use the car park and drive at speeds higher than the speed limit within the car park. Furthermore the total disrespect of such drivers for ONE WAY AND NO RIGHT HAND TURN SIGNS is truly frightening. I experienced a mother with her baby in a pram almost run over by an irresponsible driver in an expensive SUV who almost run them over because he/she ignored the NO RIGHT TURN SIGN and was driving at a speed which is prohibited in a car park. I noticed security officers often turn a blind eye to this total disrespect by driver and are often seen in the retail area rather than policing these bad drivers in the car park who are often arrogant and knowingly disobey the entry rules to the car park. Is management of the Centre waiting for a serious accident to happen or even a fatality before implementing and effectively...

new shopping centre has almost ever thing one needs on a day to basis. a big coles chemist west pac bank great cafes and restaurant. one sour note was the car park which is big and expensive with only 2hr parking per 24 hrs no tickets which is a problem when the computer seem isn't working properly i have my morning coffee about 8.00am in and out in half hour and then will sometimes drop in to pick up something for dinner around 6.00pm an other half hr or so Imagine being told had to pay $42.00 for 1/2 hr i could put in a claim in court if i wished heavy handed call centre staff see leave for half Hr as i refused pay this attempted extortion, pay and you will never get your money back with out great time and stress on your part. these new ticketless cark parks will have to rethink what they do if if there is a dispute i was prepared to call...
