This is my first time writing a review for this cinema. While it is my first time reviewing, I have been familiar with the place since 2017 since I started working as a cleaner at Westfield Hurstville and this was the year I moved to Hurstville. I have been watching here since then. Cinema experience at Vmax is most of the time top notch. But the Original or regular cinema experience is a hit or miss. And today I watched M3gan with my wife and it was definitely a miss. We were assigned to Cinema 6 and I chose seats J8 and J9 via the app. We were running 20 mins late and when we arrived, our seats were occupied by these younger customers. We were told by them to just sit next to them so we did and tried not to spoil the movie for other patrons as the movie already started and we were late. So we just kindly sat at J10 and J11 which was vacant. But then when I sat down, the seat was out of order and I was sitting right on the floor. The younger customers laughed at me and told me to "just sit anywhere you want bro". So my wife and I kinda panicked and just sat on some vacant chairs a bit farther in front from where we were supposed to sit. It was bit in front and was uncomfortable to watch that's why I always choose seats in the middle. I was hesitant to complain outside to staff because I just had a really bad day at work and just wanted to watch the movie with my wife regardless of our seats. And also I just didn't want to interrupt the movie for other customers. It was an awful experience and I just would like to recommend to Event Cinemas, I mean all of the branches if possible that there be some seat checks if the room will be packed. It's very unfair for customers who specifically chose a particular spot but then can't use them anyways because of dilemmas and situations like this.

Read moreI wish there was an option to not even give any stars as the staff at the front desk were extremely horrible. The staff are not trained to even cater to persons with disabilities. Yesterday, the 3:15pm session for the Barbie movie was the only closed caption option for that movie on that day, since Events itself does not have an option on their online website to request for the machine this means that individuals need to physically request for the caption machine prior to watching the movie. I went there yesterday with my sister who is hearing impaired and not only did the staff not talk loudly despite the loud noise from the popcorn machine and the general public, and I, a non-hearing impaired individual, couldn't even hear them properly but had the literal audacity to ask her if she was actually hearing impaired when she requested for the machine, when it was well within her right to ask for one regardless. Not only did the manager give her broken machine but charged machine but had the literal audacity to be annoyed and angry when my sister asked for a properly working and fully charged machine stating that, that broken machine was the only one "working well" and was fully charged machine in the entire facility, while the other machines did not have much charge and did not work that well, compared to the broken machine that she originally had. For the entire movie, my sister had to use that broken machine, which did not even provide proper captioning, especially when the battery ran low and could not even enjoy watching the movie. The staff should be extremely ashamed of themselves for such degrading behaviour and not even having manners. No one should ever go through that, and I hope that this will...
Read moreIt took more than 2 hours and multiple customer complaints to have a group of inappropriate teenagers to be removed. Pretty much a customer from every corner of the theatre had made a complaint. Whilst whispering here and there is acceptable, constantly talking loudly, throwing food at elderly people, taking photos with flash, and smoking/vaping is beyond reasonable. A few these teens kept entering and exiting the theatre, slamming the doors each time they went in and out - this was happening every 5 to 10 minutes. When there was quiet dialogue in movie, all you could hear was this group talking, laughing and even yelling. These customers should have been removed within the first two complaints, not the fourth or fifth, and certainly not by the end of movie. Please have better policies in place to remove these people earlier; otherwise you should consider compensating everyone who could not enjoy their movie in that session, especially if they felt threatened by the presence of...
