My favourite food is meat. I absolutely love meat. I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world including a huge number of steakhouses. I eat meat every single night of the week.
Now that I have established that, please accept that I am qualified to give an objective review on Meadow Meat in Crows Nest!
I only discovered Meadow Meat a few weeks ago, however, I have officially made this wonderful place my new 'local' butcher irrespective of it's proximity to my home. Meadow Meat is worth traveling to no matter how far away you happen to be.
Sam and his team are not only some of the most delightful people I have ever met in my life, they are exceptionally knowledgeable about all of their products and are always so obliging with my special requests every time I visit.
Sam hand-picks the best quality cuts of meat and dry-ages onsite . His dry-aged meat is rich in flavour, nutty, buttery and always so tender and flavourful.
Their prices are extremely reasonable, in fact, considerably cheaper than other "big name" butcher shops which I won't mention on here.
The photos I attached to this review are of the best rib-eye I have had in my life - Sam aged it for 4 months. As you can see, I didn't want to eat any of it with the garlic jam and horseradish on my plate as it was just perfect and needed no improvement or addition of condiments.
I've already had my dinner tonight, however, writing this review is getting me extremely hungry again!
Please take it from me, a stickler for exceptional customer service and product, you MUST visit Sam and his team at Meadow Meat to check out his range, have a chat, and go home to cook the most delicious meal of your life - I guarantee it!
If I could give 6 stars, I most certainly would!
Looking forward to my next visit really...

I've made two attempts to shop at this butcher shop, years apart, and both experiences were unfortunately disappointing. During my first visit, I requested a thick cut of pork belly. The butcher dismissively told me they were 'not that kind of butcher' and seemed unbothered when I left without making a purchase. Today, after giving them another chance 2-3 years later, I asked if they could cut a whole chicken into smaller pieces for a specific recipe. The butcher flatly stated he would only cut it into 6-8 pieces, claiming that was 'the best he could do.' When I politely pointed out that he had the proper equipment for smaller cuts, he simply repeated his response dismissively. The consistent unwelcoming attitude and inflexibility across both visits, years apart, shows this isn't a one-off issue but rather their standard approach to customer service. I won't...
Read moreI really don't understand the reviews on here. Are they written by the owners?? After recently moving to the area, we've been trying various butchers to find our favourite and this one would have to be the worst so far! Service was rude, display was appalling (most items in cryovac bags) , very little choice and prices high. Based on reviews, I persevered and purchaed a lamb rack, chicken schnitzel and scotch fillet steaks. The lamb rack was OK, steaks at $22 each were inedible and ended up in the bin and the chicken schnitzel at $45/kg joined the...
