I love Pho is not only the name of the restaurant we visited but a true statement of our feelings towards it. Situated in the heart of Crows Nest is this Gem of a Vietnamese restaurant, serving up tasty traditional cusine.
The restaurant also has a traditional aesthetic look and feel which also reflects the style of food. With bamboo lining the walls and Vietnamese themed art, it feels welcoming and genuine. The service was prompt and super friendly and our waiter was extremely charismatic. Upon looking at the menu it was nice to see this restaurant is involved with a charity that helps the children of Vietnam, with 50c from every meal going towards building schools in regional areas. It is wonderful and is inspiring to see that this restaurant gives back.
The menu items sport a list of Vietnamese favourites with an emphasis on flavour. For starters, we couldn't go past their amazing spring rolls with a crispy rice paper shell filled with a flavoursome pork filling. We also tried the warm freshly steamed rice paper rolls too. The sugarcane prawns are another good option. There is a nice subtle sweetness from the prawn paste and the sugarcane, which itself also edible and provides some texture.
A new addition to the menu are the signature bao bun with crispy pork. Highly recommend as an entree choice.
Bun Xeo is always on the hit list, Especially the roast duck variety of this crispy Vietnamese pancake/crepe which stems from the French colonial influence. This was a great version of this dish with a crepe that was nice and crisp, and this is not always the case when we have ordered this dish at other places. Plenty of filling beansprouts and roast duck, as well as mint and salad on the side and also comes with a sweet and sour sauce for added flavour.
This was a return visit, on the initial visit we had Pho on our mind, the rich flavour of Hoi'an style broth brewed for 24 hours and it certainly hit the mark. This time I had another delicious soup on my mind. A soup with a bit of spice, the Bun bo hue. The Bun bo hue was on point the soup having done its time to develop rich flavour and had a nice amount of spice. This soup is not only tasty, it was also quite filling with plenty of meat and noodles.
The vermicelli bowl which came with BBQ pork skewers and a flavour packed marinated pork was also a generous serve. The pork this time had a lot more flavour than most, probably one of our favourites.
I love Pho is a great Vietnamese restaurant serving quality traditional Vietnamese cuisine. The food is reasonably priced, the servings are large and the service friendly. Well worth a visit and we...
Read moreI’ve been a regular customer here for a while and usually enjoy the food, but after today’s experience, I will never return. I ordered my usual pho for lunch and noticed that many of the vegetables were uncooked. I politely mentioned it to the waiter, who said he would take it back to the kitchen and make a new one.
A while later, he returned and, in a condescending tone, told me that he and the chef had tried it and everything was fully cooked, but that they would “still make a new one anyway.” I was taken aback by his attitude and told him calmly that I wasn’t lying about what I saw, but he continued to argue with me — right there in the middle of the restaurant. When I asked to speak to the chef or manager, he refused, saying the chef was “too busy,” and the other staff ignored my request and said I could call the restaurant number and ask for the boss.
Instead of resolving the issue professionally, he kept insisting I was wrong and continued to debate me about it. It was humiliating, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. No customer should ever be argued with over a simple concern, especially after being polite and patient.
I still paid for both meals but left feeling shocked and disrespected. The waiter’s name was Tai, and his behaviour completely ruined what used to be one of my favourite local spots. I’ve never written a bad review before, but this experience truly deserves one. Management should be ashamed of this...
Read moreCame here for dinner over the weekend. Ordered a bowl of "premium wagyu beef" pho soup. The description on their menu stated - "wagyu medium rare...". My bowl of Pho came out with over cooked wagyu beef so it was a bit tough for my liking. In terms of the flavour and aroma for the beef broth...I have to say that it was a bit watered down. There wasn't really any aroma or much flavour in the broth, considering how they mentioned that it's "slow cooked 24 hours with herbs". Nope...I couldn't taste anything spectacular with the beef broth. Sadly, I couldn't finish my bowl of Pho (not an enjoyable meal) 😕
Also, ordered a side of their "Vietnamese sausages". Not sure if someone was just lazy in preparing this dish...It was suppose to be "aromatic grilled pork sausage". Grilled??!! Nope...looks and tasted like someone just heated this dish up in the microwave or something. And the "aromatic" bit...a bit deceiving because it smelled more porky and not that flavorful. I dont think they prepared this dish well enough...This should have been properly grilled like they said in their menu to be able to give the sausages a smoky and aromatic flavor. Also, the pork sausage itself was a bit overly sweet for my taste. On top of that, it came with some dipping sauce. I think the amount of salt in the sausages is enough that you don't need to add anything extra.
Overall, it wasn't a satisfying meal. Don't think I will be...
