Cairns Golf Club — Local services in Woree

The courses and equipment were very good but the employee that greeted myself and 2 friends was horrible, the employee by the name of Kane came out to us on our second shot of the first course and told us that "we were too slow and no good for the course," after we explained we were beginners and trying our best while having fun, he remarked that "cairns golf club isn't for beginners and that the driving range was better for us." We hadn't done anything we followed the rules and were just trying to enjoy our first experience at golf and he came out and harassed us, granted we aren't the quickest and aren't able to play the best shots but we were trying, we had paid in full and had every right to play the course and he made us feel unwelcome. That employee really came off quite hostile and put a really sour taste in my mouth for the club and for golf, I really hope the management sees this and talks to him because if he is doing this to others then he's making new comers like myself feel not welcome on a public course and I hope I don't have the displeasure of interacting with that...

Enjoyable course to play with some challenging holes. The fairways and tee boxes were in excellent condition, but the greens were not. Hard to justify the price for 18 holes when the greens were not rolling smooth and covered in sand. Some greens had bare patches and lacking very little grass. I understand the weather can be a challenge in Cairns, but my overall experience was let down by the condition of some of the greens. Also, the clubs provided for hire must have been from the 80's. Would be nice for an updated set to be provided for guests travelling without their own clubs. With that said, I would visit for another round if I had my own clubs instead of relying on those for hire...

I was attending an Asia Pacific Orthopaedic convention and wanted to play golf near Cairns convention centre. I had the pleasure of visiting Cairns Golf Club recently and was warmly welcomed by Josh at the front desk. I had mistakenly booked for the following day, but Josh went above and beyond to turn the mix-up into a great experience. He took time to orient me with the course, offered access to the driving range instead, and made sure I still enjoyed my day.
