Choose elsewhere to stay; doesn’t feel like a ‘Super’ place. Patrons are treated as an inconvenience.
Biggest complaint: the staff; no customer service, nor smiles. The lack of uniform makes staff hard to spot and looks so unprofessional (hoddies, sneakers, baggy jeans). Front Desk staff wasn’t very accommodating, professional, fast or knowledgeable (i.e. What is the clearance on the parkade “I donno”, can you find out? “uhh, maybe 6 ft?”, meanwhile the guy beside me says there is a marker that says 6’6”). The one time I did see a young housekeeper, she smiled and was polite. Front end staff should bend over backwards to at least make you feel welome. Why didn't the front desk offer to follow up and let me know!? Simple!
1st room we checked into was unacceptable - in the midst of repairs with dry wall dust everywhere - should have been out of service; 2nd room they check us into: Room(s) were ‘ok’ clean – there was a crusty muffin wrapper, a coffee stir stick and a plastic wrapper on the floor. Housekeeping didn’t provide service on New Year's Day and no advance notice was even offered from the front desk or a notice posted anywhere… in Hospitality, holidays are usually their biggest days that the hotel should be prepared for this. Rooms were plain; nothing Fancy.
Pillows were aweful aweful aweful – the 11 of us hated the pillows - I had to sleep on a rolled up towel as it hurt my neck. The iron and ironing board are kept at the front desk (PS the iron needs fixed). Rooms are stocked ‘ok’; ice bucket was questionable.
Located next to Tim Hortons, McDonalds and Starbucks works out great as Super 8’s breakfast sucks (you’ll have to pass homeless person asking for change on your way over though.)
Breakfast had a small variety of items but little-to-no variety within (i.e. just apples, no banana’s etc.; Just Raisin Bran; Just bread…white bread; Just 1 type of jam). Breakfast staff did not ensure things were stocked/topped up and seemed slow to aid concerns of patrons. Like the 4 premade waffles that kept running out. The common areas and breakfast area are freezing! Patrons were eating in their winter coats. And PS their (electric) fireplace is off because there was something wrong with the ‘gas’ they said.
The pool was pretty chilly, kids had fun on the slide. I was grossed out by the yellow tinge of the hot tub. MOST IMPORTANTLY an unsupervised, underground, low traffic area, THE PHONE TO CALL 911 WAS OUT OF SERVICE and dangled down the wall with no dial tone. This is not safe.

Read moreI was staying at the Super 8 in Abbotsford with a family member, and I still can’t believe we lasted the few nights we did. I’ve worked in oil and gas for years and have stayed in camps and roadside motels all over Alberta and BC, some rough around the edges, sure, but nothing like this.
The room was a disaster from the second we walked in. The sheets didn’t even look clean, creased like they’d just been pulled up after the last person checked out. There was hair in the bathtub, mold in the mini fridge, and a general smell in the air that made you wonder what was hiding behind the walls. My family member looked at me and said, “We’re not actually staying here, are we?”
Housekeeping is supposed to come every two days, but it’s a joke. We timed them. They were in our room for maybe two minutes and didn’t touch the garbage, didn’t wipe anything, just tossed the blanket over the bed and left. We purposely left out a couple of small gift boxes to see if they’d be messed with, and sure enough, they were opened and moved. No sense of privacy or respect for guests.
What really set this place apart, and not in a good way, was what we witnessed happen to another guest. A young woman was clearly upset, trying to explain to the front desk that her partner had just been taken by ambulance and their car keys might’ve gone with him. She wasn’t yelling, just visibly panicked and trying to sort things out. Instead of helping, the staff told her they’d call a tow truck. That’s when she started having an anxiety attack right there in the lobby, pleading with them not to tow the car because she couldn’t afford the fees. It was hard to watch.
She eventually left, and that’s when it got even worse. The front desk and the manager, who’d been hiding in the back, started mocking her. Laughing. I heard the manager say some absolutely unprofessional things before calling the police. We caught part of the conversation on video and passed it along to head office because no one should be treated like that, especially after a medical emergency.
Also, double check your credit card. This place is shady. We were overcharged, and when we questioned it, the front desk gave us the runaround. Seems like they’ll pad charges just to make the manager’s numbers look better. Total scam.
This isn’t just a sketchy motel, it’s one of the worst-run places I’ve ever seen. Dirty, disrespectful, and dishonest. Save yourself...
Read moreDon’t let the exterior fool you. From the road, the Super 8 in Abbotsford looks decent , maybe even promising. But that illusion quickly crumbles the moment they shuffle you off to the old, grimy section of the motel instead of the newer-looking part they showcase. The room I was given looked like something out of a low-budget 1970s horror film: filthy, dated, and reeking of stale cigarette smoke. The comforter was stained, the air was thick with years of neglect, and every surface left you feeling dirtier than when you arrived.
Service? Nonexistent. The front desk staff were rude and dismissive, and when issues came up, they couldn’t be bothered to care. Their so-called "breakfast" is a complete joke... hard-boiled eggs, toast, and frozen Eggos. That’s it. They should be embarrassed.
I was overcharged for this nightmare , over $1,500 for 7 nights, and believe me, this place isn’t worth $50 a night. Check your credit card statements if you’ve stayed here. I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and dispute the charges after being charged for things I never agreed to.
On the morning of checkout, my partner was injured while packing. We had to call an ambulance and informed the front desk we may need an extra hour or so due to the emergency. Instead of any understanding or basic human decency, we were pressured repeatedly about when the ambulance would arrive, then told we wouldn’t be charged extra. Surprise! They charged us another $80.
To make matters worse, in the chaos of the injury, our car keys were misplaced, and we were temporarily unable to move our vehicle. The motel’s response? Not help, just threats to tow our car.
And the manager? A complete coward. She was on-site but refused to speak to me directly, hiding behind staff like a child avoiding responsibility. Instead of addressing the situation like a professional, she called the police and threatened trespassing charges, all while we were trying to resolve things calmly and respectfully after being paying guests for an entire week.
This place is a dump in every sense of the word. Poorly managed, poorly maintained, and completely lacking in basic hospitality. If you’ve already stayed here, I strongly encourage you to contact Wyndham directly, file a BBB complaint, and make sure your voice is heard. Places like this should not be...
