UPDATE: After my original review, the owner publicly accused me of theft and made a personal threat about my employment prospects. This is harassment and defamation. I’ve reported it to Google and stand by my experience and documentation. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ SaveAton (Wholesale Warehouse Ltd.) is one of the most pathetic excuses for a store I’ve ever stepped foot into. First of all, apparently their staff think they’re secret agents — instead of actually working, they were literally following me around the entire time I was browsing, pretending to "stock shelves" while staying less than two feet behind me like I was some kind of criminal. Newsflash: if you want customers to actually BUY something, maybe don’t make them feel like they’re under surveillance at Guantanamo Bay.
And let’s talk about the quality of the CRAP they’re selling. Half the store is filled with broken, defective, or barely working junk that they slap a “Final Sale” or “Clearance” sign on like it’s some kind of bargain. Example? E-bikes marked down “cheap” but the battery doesn’t even work. Or exercise equipment where the tensioner doesn’t function properly. Like… what exactly am I paying for? Scrap metal? A prop for my garage? No thank you!!!
But here’s the kicker: 75% of the product sold in this store is straight-up Costco stock. Kirkland brands EVERYWHERE. They literally bulk-buy from Costco, toss it in their store, and flip it for barely less like it’s some big special warehouse bargain that you can't get anywhere else. PATHETIC. If I wanted Costco, I’d go to Costco — at least then I wouldn’t feel like a shoplifter being shadowed by wannabe security guards.
This place is the definition of sketchy. Overpriced garbage that doesn’t even work, staff that treat you like a shoplifter instead of a paying customer, and an atmosphere that makes you want to shower after leaving.
SaveAton should honestly be called ScamAton. Absolutely not worth your time, your money, or your dignity. I will NOT EVER be returning to this store. I felt so uncomfortable and insulted the entire time I...
Read moreSpotted this while doing some errands, thought we'd stop in and take a look. This is likely the highest priced "liquidation" place I've ever been in. Sure, if you look hard enough they have some ok prices, but the entire stock is Costco or Amazon returns for the most part. But, prices are high, indeed I spotted actual items we've purchased at Costco for MORE than what we paid at Costco when the item was on sale or clear out pricing.
As for grocery items, all of it past their best before date (sell by date), while of course those items are still perfectly fine to consume they're still priced close to regular retail.
As the owner responds to these I shall provide some ideas to help the business. Jump in your vehicle and take a trip up to Stettler, in the mall there is a "Liquidation" store that's been open for several years. Go inside and take a look at what they have. That store buys NEW clothing bulk from suppliers and stores, quite often it's weird sizes that didn't sell. But they have lots of regular sizing on offer. We buy clothes there for our camping trips, $5 hoodies, $5 sweatpants, $10 jackets, etc. You can barely walk thru the racks in that store they have so much stuff. And they aren't just one or two items of each, they have boxes of each, different colours, etc.
Calgary does not have such a store in the city, but we have a ton of similar stores to yours but most are at least being realistic with what they're selling and not trying to sell it for close to what you can purchase it at a regular store. I mean, you have stuff on your shelves marked as "not working" but here's 20% off this already high price for a non-working version. You will never manage to sell those items.
You'd make a killing running a store like that Stettler store, forget about trying to resell Amazon/Costco returns and offer something people want. Nobody is going to want to buy long since expired food items at prices close to regular stores, higher than Walmart and Dollarama, they go to those stores directly...
Read more90% of the stuff being sold is Costco returns but only slightly discounted. My advice is to just buy the stuff from Costco and take advantage of their exceptional return policy if something goes wrong. Don't try and save a few bucks buying someone else's returned trash of unknown quality.
Response to the owner:
Just because you don't like what's being said, doesn't mean it's a fake review. Maybe get some products outside of unsold and returned Walmart, Superstore, and Costco items. Accusing me of being a disgruntled competitor and trying to advertise on a bad review is pathetic and other customers should take note.
(Owners response incase they try to delete it:
Response from the owner 5 days ago We appreciate all reviews and as a small business that gets affected by reviews we do try our best to learn from them. However fake reviews we struggle with. Our clothing is 50% off, everything else can range from 30% to 60%. King mattress for $399, sectionals at $699, cereal at $1.99 and so many more examples. Maybe you’re just the competition and writing bad reviews but it’s ok. Lots of our amazing customers keep coming back and we...
