Was craving ice cream decide to give this place a try drive 35 mins. Giving it social media was presentable.
To be honest nothing special about this place not much flavor to choose from, hardly any seating. To people who are an icecream people this really isn’t the place to drive for 35 mins or 20 mins. Kinda left us disappointed driving back. I drove here really for the hazelnut crunch but when I sample it I felt like there was no rerrero rocher in it, I have tried other place that carry this kind of icecream even when they gave me a sample I taste it instantly. Not this one.
I gave 2 star being generous because the icecream was horrible but wasn’t great either. Place look clean, and I like the Belgian waffle so soft but the only thing was it was plain like even eating it by it self, I felt like it needed something so I order a Cinnamon honey. It is an inquire taste for sure. To me kinda weird taste. I really don’t know if I like the honey being the way it is with cinnamon. Should of just had it as a dipping instead of it on top. I thinking I just preferred cinnamon sugar usually which are a better combination instead.
Not worth my drive it usually first visit for me at a place. If there something there for me to come back to I will come back, but if there isn’t I won’t take my chance on it being a ...
Read moreI was really excited to have this little icecream shop in our neighborhood, I was even worried that it might be a bad thing for me since I live a block away! But alas, after multiple times of visiting since they opened, I can say that this place has become a let-down. :( I don't mind the long wait but what I mind is the inconsistencies...with everything! The first couple times I've gone, I've been given the biggest scoop EVER but then slowly the regular scoop became smaller than a kid's scoop (what used to be anyways). The flavours are on and off too. The pistachio is my favourite and there are "Yesss pistachio" days and "What is this? I can't taste pistachio" days. Same with the salted caramel, I've had a couple VERY salty batches that I couldn't finish. On very busy days too, they allow to serve paper thin waffle cones that crumble the moment you take them. Last straw was when I got my mom who LOVES ice cream to drive all the way to the south to try them one time and unfortunately she got a "bad" batch so it was a bit embarrassing for me because I recommended them and she wasn't happy at all. I'm hoping they fix these things as they do have their good days. For now though, I'm more willing to drive a bit to get my...
Read moreFirst time going. Have been to village many time and made by Marcus, as potential comparisons. Reading some other early reviews... I don't care that there isn't a bathroom or that the store is small. I care about the quality of the ice cream, taste and variety of flavours, and to some extent the price.
Our family had vanilla bean, salted caramel, mint chocolate chip, and strawberry rhubarb. All were excellent. Easily the best ice cream I've had down here in the south east. Probably better than marble slab but let's face it good ice cream is good ice cream. The waffle cone was delicious. The server asked me to try the blackberry lavender because it was a love or hate thing, she said. I did like it but was looking for something sweeter so picked another one. Point is, good customer service.
One comment though - compared to our single scoop cups, my wife's single scoop in a waffle cone (which you already pay an extra dollar for) had way less ice cream, and was not a good value at $7.
We'll come again, many...
