Been here many times with my friends, we’ve spent a lot of money here and have always had a pretty good time, but last night was absolutely brutal. I bought a $15 daiquiri, it was in a round wine glass, I placed it down on the table, and it ended up getting bumped by someone and spilled the entire thing (I had ONE sip) we flagged the waitress down, who said she would get us napkins, WE cleaned the entire thing because they weren’t about to, and I asked for the bill. I stepped outside for a smoke, and while I was outside, the waitress repeatedly asked my boyfriend and friends if I was coming back to pay. She didn’t ask anyone else to pay THEIR tabs, just me. They’re so scared to lose $15 that they didn’t offer to replace my brand new drink, but they were also chasing my friends asking if I would be back to pay. I came back, went to pay, and she held the screen out so we could BOTH see the tip screen, so I was also forced to tip on a drink I didn’t get. Lowest percent is 18% so that $15 drink turned to $18. The second thing that happened not even 10 mins after is the main reason for this review. There were 2 men that didn’t speak barely any English, asking a waitress how to use the pong table. Their pong table was obviously broken, one of the blocks you control was in the middle of the device. My boyfriend mentioned this to them, and the waitress talking to the 2 gentleman genuinely told them it was fine, and to put their money in. Which they did. And the machine obviously didn’t work. You can tell they were confused, and so my boyfriend had to go tell them that the waitress just got them to waste $4 in a machine she knew was broken. My boyfriend felt AWFUL as these guys asked him in broken English “so she made us waste $4?” That is genuinely disgusting. How do you guys have waitresses that are lying to get money out of people who can’t even really understand them? It’s an abuse of power, and I’m shocked I even witnessed that in today’s day and age. Yeah its $4 but it’s the principle of what your waitress did to them. You guys need to work on how you treat paying customers because last night was...
Read moreWe went on a Friday and took advantage of the rewards app to get a free pizza. Service was excellent and timely, and our drinks were good. We had trash can nachos, which were not exactly exceptional (and were a fairly small serving), followed by a Big Smoke pizza and some buttermilk fried chicken. The pizza was fine, but I'd recommend going a different route than Big Smoke as it was rather dull. The fried chicken was also very so-so, and the kettle chips that came with them tasted burnt.
We didn't try the entertainment side of things, so I can't speak to how fun the bowling and arcade portions are, but other people did seem to have a good time with it. For my part, the best I can say is the food was mostly inoffensive, and for the price you're paying that feels underwhelming. We might come back again, but we won't be in any hurry.
Edit - We made a second visit on July 7th at the request of the restaurant manager for a complimentary meal. We were seated on the second floor, and Jay was gracious and made time for us. Our server was prompt regarding our concerns, though there was frequent confusion and uncertainty about the menu (and a mix-up regarding the bill). Still great service, same as last time.
We had Mac and cheese and a steak sandwich this time, and there was a marked improvement in flavor. The steak sandwich in particular was a standout. The Caesar side salad was also very well done. That will add another star to the place.
One noticeable downer on the second floor was the music, which was a collection of remixes of well-known songs. It was, in our opinion, utterly bizarre, and mostly just made us laugh at how silly some of the remixes were. A very odd choice that added little to our experience.
However, overall this was a good visit. My thanks to Jay for...
Read moreWell I don't normally leave reviews , but after finding out how employees are treated here I could not help but to. I tried several times in contacting the management but the phone just loops back around. All these people giving this place 5 stars are oblivious to how abusive this company is to it's employee's. They will hire you full time then cut everyone's work hours by 25% or more without notice giving staff 0 time to scramble, They have done that repeatedly since they've opened. They do not adhere to employment law and their staff then have to figure how to pay their rent and mortgages leaving some to have to move or find extra work. On top of playing games with staff hours they also short staff and lie about how they handle tips from back to front of house. It has been brought to my attention that anyone can file a complaint against a employer violating employment law. I will file a complaint but staff should consider their legal options as to cut hours as such is not lawful.
They should have addressed new hires and laid them off accordingly if they are cutting current previously hired staff. No one should be losing hours for new employees and staff should not be treated like dogs as breaks are also improperly handled. This place is under Canadian Brewhouse a place known for shorting staff wages for their breaks going back years. So even if they fix this I suspect they will punish staff for sharing the truth about how they are treated when they worked there. Too bad as the positive is how most staff treat eachother pretty good and the food is great and so are some in management but not all and this company needs to improve it's...
