Yes there is variety in the stores, although some are struggling during the pandemic. That effect is being felt through the whole economy. My review and rating is not about the stores in general at this mall, but about safety. (To be fair, the Save-On-Foods is carrying more international products-so it is a shame they upgraded the store.) However, if you are female, you are by yourself (maybe also elderly) and it is after sunset while “anchor” stores are still open, it is not advisable to go to shop here, especially on the Save-On-Foods end. You may be harassed and yelled at by young males in a car for unknown reasons. Somewhere some parents must be proud that their sons choose to yell at an elderly women that they did not know, who was by herself in a darkened parking lot after sunset, before “anchor” stores closed. After I returned home, attempting to get my groceries into the car and leave the parking lot as soon as possible, I told my husband that I was not going to that mall after dark again. He chooses not to shop there as it “has a bad vibe”. I have started going to other Save-On-Foods locations since, so it is rare that I visit any of the other stores in that mall except in broad daylight, during regular store hours. Mall security needs to be enhanced by cameras and signs stating “video is being taken of parking lot for customer safety”. The mall guard is never where they are needed and the Save-On-Foods security is there for the store, not for you after dark! I commented to him about this incident the following week and his answer was less than inspiring. Some things need to change. Also had a neighbour who lives a few feet away relay an incident regarding a Walmart Security guard who was yelling at a very elderly lady (in the entrance of store) who had no mask at a time when masks in stores became recommended…not mandatory. My neighbour, also elderly, had to step in to protect the woman; my neighbour gave her a mask and then stalked off to customer service to complain and had to tell the store security to stay away since he was following her to customer service. I try not to shop at that Walmart either as I have also been screeched at by some female employee whose sole job was to tell customers who came in to pick up packages at the pick-up desk to go back out side. My vision is not great, it was dark and it was raining and I did not know where pick-up was outside. I found it difficult that evening to read my phone in my car to figure out what number to phone. Read moreThis place doesn't look like much but it's got more than meets the eye.
While this place doesn't boast as many stores or shops as guildford mall or other critically acclaimed malls it is still a great place to go to hang out, get food, and shop. There is a wide assortment of food options such as ricky's all day grill which is always a good eat. The dollar store there is huge and the entire mall is connected to the walmart and grocery store so you can walk through the entire thing. The staff are friendly and there are security guards patrolling to make sure no one is stealing from stores or from anyone else which is always nice to have. The mall is generally pretty clean but is a little messier around the food court area. Each individual restaurant or shop usually keeps itself cleaner. I didn't check the bathrooms but I assume they are average in cleanliness, similar to the rest of the mall.
The mall also has a ton of parking for being not an entirely big shopping centre. Before I forget to mention, Scottsdale Centre is home to McDonalds which is a pretty general thing to have but it is also home to the one, the only, Krispy Kreme Donuts. Do not go to Scottsdale centre without going to Krispy Kreme. I Highly recommend the apple fritter and blueberry donut which taste awesome and if you like lying to yourself, are healthier for you.
Would definitely recommend coming here instead of trekking to guildford mall unless Scottsdale doesn't have what you are...
