Back story: I let my best friend borrow my favourite and very expensive dress that I wore to my graduation. This dress had a lot of meaning for me and she unfortunately burnt a hole in it.

Fast forward to last week in which I was able to find the same dress but in a much larger size and in perfect timing for a really important occasion I had to attend. I spent the entire week asking people for recommendations and calling different places to see if I could find someone to do the alternations in time for the event and within a reasonable price range (as I was at a point having paid almost double for this dress). In response, I was given very steep prices, two week time frames and people telling me that this alternation was impossible due to how much needed to be taken in (from size 10 to a size 4).

I came across Gunit’s boutique on Facebook and Reddit and decided to go out on a whim since I was left with no other options and a little over 24 hours to spare.

I have left this experience in awe due to the level of expertise that Gunit had to offer. Not only did she take me in and complete this alteration within the time frame but did it with perfection.

I am so incredibly impressed with the level of skill she has. The dress is high quality, and any mistake would’ve been glaringly obvious, but the final result looked as if it had been custom made for me from the start.

I recently discovered Gunit’s Boutique in Guelph, and I’m honestly still in shock—in the best way! I had no idea a store like this even existed here. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the wide variety of ethnic and Indo-Western clothing they carry. Everything from sarees and lehengas to fusion pieces with modern twists—they’ve got it all.

Gunit herself was incredibly helpful, patient, and welcoming. I walked in without an appointment, and she still accommodated me on the spot and did same-day alterations on my saree for convocation. It fit perfectly and looked amazing. The entire experience was smooth and stress-free.

It’s such a relief knowing I don’t have to rely on ordering clothes from India anymore—this boutique is now my go-to for all special occasions.

I received my grad dress late and had to make some last minute alterations in time for graduation which was only 4 days away. The service I experienced here was phenomenal. Gunit was so kind and explained the entire process. She made sure to be realistic about the kind of alterations that could be done. Within the same day of bringing the dress I was able to try on dress see how it fit after the first set of alterations.

The dress was a fitted strapless dress and the resizing of the bust and overall dress was done very well while still maintaining the original design. The price was incredibly affordable and Gunit went above and beyond to address all the concerns I had with the dress.
