I have owned many a VW in my life. My first car at 16 was a VW Jetta, followed by a convertible bug in my 20's. When it came time to find a suitable SUV for our family, I went to Turner VW and chose a 2022 Tiguan and was very happy with my choice - it ticked off all the boxes for my wants in a car that would be strictly used to take my kids to and from school/programs.
Unfortunately, that's where the joy has ended. I've had this car since Aug 2022 and it has caused us nothing but trouble. At first, I thought I just needed to get comfortable with the turbo, but slowly the troubles increased: the car has difficulty shifting from first to second, especially when merging onto a highway (not great when you have littles in the car); the NAV/screen just shuts off randomly, no matter the temperature outside or how long I've been running the car; autostart stops working, meaning I stall out at red lights.
We first took the car in to VW in June 2025 because I'd had enough of these troubles and wanted them to have a look. That's when things became really bad: VW refused to acknowledge anything was wrong on paper, but the service desk men told us that the issues may be related to a computer glitch impacting the systems for both the EVAP and the screen. They wouldn't fix it that first day as they had to order a part, so we booked in at a later date we dropped the car off again late July for VW to install the new part. They had the car for almost two weeks. Upon pick up, they said they found the problem and all was fixed. Unfortunately, my check engine light was still running when I turned on the car - service team acknowledged that they lied and didn't actually test drive the car to ensure it was fixed. They asked for us to bring it in, again for them to address the issue we dropped the car off again a few weeks later. The NAV was reset and we were ensured that everything should work fine. Started the car, no check engine light. a week later, the car stalls out again at a red light. Merging on to the highway gets worse as the car stalls, then lunges forward when shifting gears. We took the car back in Oct 29th after the manager tells us we need a transmission system update. The technician disagreed and said it was the turbo lag causing the issue and there shouldn't be any complaints. They finished my oil change, checked my breaks, and handed back the keys. However, their team failed to tell us they broke my NAV entirely with the installation of the new software module, so the radio/navigation/Apple CarPlay and car locks no longer work. We found this out AFTER VW returned the car and we attempted to drive out of the lot. Not to mention they didn't fix the transmission! I now have to take my car in for a fifth time and hope to goodness that their service team deigns to take a notice of my car in an attempt to resolve the issue without breaking something else
For now I have a car I feel completely unsafe in, a check engine light and 'get serviced now!' message on my dash, and am somehow expected to still pick my kids up from school.
I'm at my whits end with Turner Volkswagon. Never in my life have I received such terrible service on an everyday item that I rely on to safely take my family around town. I just hope that the next time they see my car, it can be fixed enough I can sell the darn thing and be done with it. If you're looking to buy a VW, I recommend looking in other cities and avoid dealing with...
Read moreI’m sorry to have to do this. I don’t write reviews, good or bad. I also don’t throw people under the bus out of spite. That’s not my style. However, I feel I need to comment on my first and last visit to Turner VW. I went into Turner VW two days ago with a concerning error message on my VW. It was an airbag fault error message. Obviously I was alarmed so I went straight to VW. I walked into a completely empty and quiet service centre and explained my situation. I was told right away that I had to make an appointment and that they couldn’t help me. No eye contact. No sense of urgency. No real air of caring at all. I simply turned around and walked out. I got back in my car drove six blocks to a independent VW mechanic and within minutes I knew what the code was, what my options were, the severity level of the code, what to be done right now and what I should do going forward. At that point I had total peace of mind and a sense that somebody understood how I felt that this was something that needed to be addressed right away. It wasn’t a faulty stereo. It wasn’t a chip in a windshield. It wasn’t a rip in the cloth. It was an airbag fault. A Potentially life endangering situation. Now I understand that everybody is busy. I get it. I’m busy. I don’t have a lot of time in my day to slip unannounced things into my life. I completely understand that. But again, this wasn’t ripped cloth or a broken stereo. This was a potentially dangerous situation waiting to literally explode in my face. Would it really have been so taxing on Turner VW to have a tech come out and spend five minutes with me? Well I guess that doesn’t really matter anymore, I believe I’ve found a shop and a mechanic that seem to care. And that’s not to say that I feel entitled to just walk into that shop whenever I feel like it and demand service and receive it right away. Of course not. That was never my intention from the start. But considering the severity level of the error message, perhaps a moment of your time would not have been too much to ask for.
I can’t recommend enough that people deal with independent shops and mechanics. These people are highly skilled, eager for your business...
Read moreIs there a cheat code to give more than five stars? Because Luke and the team at Turner Volkswagen Kelowna are worth at least 10! This review is long overdue, but only because I’ve been way too busy driving my amazing new Tiguan at literally any possible opportunity.
I was very casually window shopping for a new vehicle when I came across a few worth checking out at Turner. Luke responded to my online inquiry promptly with ample information and zero pressure—as a salesperson myself, that’s tremendously important. 45 minutes later I was at the lot, scoping out my options. Throughout the whole process Luke felt more like a trusted friend that I’d brought along than a salesperson. He calmed all my concerns with confidence and professionalism that no doubt comes from his extensive mechanical background with an array of European vehicles.
My vehicle was the last available on the lot for the foreseeable future, and Luke conveyed this without creating a sense of pressure or coming across like, well, a car salesman! A few days later I’d secured the vehicle and went on to have the most enjoyable purchasing experience I’ve ever had in my entire life—seriously! From Luke to Mandy to the staff at service and reception, literally every interaction I had was friendly, helpful and confidence-inspiring. When you’re dropping a bunch of money, that’s a really big deal!
Upon pick up, my Tiguan was waiting for me in the showroom complete with a massive bow. I’m not too proud to admit that that made me feel totally warm and fuzzy inside. Luke took all the time I needed to ensure I knew how the vehicle worked, inside and out, as well as hit on a few things that were especially relevant to me and my driving style—and that’s HUGE, because it showed me he’d been listening intently throughout the whole process and absolutely, 100% gives a sh*t!
This is my first Volkswagen and my first experience with Turner. While I plan on keeping my Tiguan for a very long time, I look forward to dealing with Luke and the team at Turner in the future! Thanks again,...
