After 6 years of shopping almost exclusively at this Freshco location there are some things I can outline confidently for my fellow shoppers: If you want a cart, you will need a quarter. There is a public bathroom, albeit creepy and poorly kept. They have both self and employee operated checkouts. There is ample parking, except when the schools across the street are getting out or having an event. Don't ever buy the chicken that's marked down. If you need cheap chicken and you're desperate then smell it. If it smells like farts even a little bit don't buy it. I've gotten bad meat from them even when it isn't marked down on more than one occasion. They have a policy that if it isn't fresh they will replace it - what they don't tell you is the amount of fighting you have to do to have them uphold that policy. The produce is decent. You can't help a certain level of fruit flies, customer damage or bad crops (sometimes). For the most part I don't mind buying produce at FreshCo. This location carries a large amount of international foods. This location carries local baked goods from Azores. They carry got ready to go chickens, both halal and regular. Now I'll fill you in on why last night was the last time FreshCo will receive any business from me. I entered the store after work last night because I needed cream for my morning coffee. The security guard noticed me the second I walked through the door. I even said hello to her. That security guard followed me through the entire store. She was even so bold enough to walk in front of me while I was shopping muttering an obligatory "so sorry". Every isle. When I was finishing my browsing out in the freezer isle she didn't even try to hide that she was watching me. She made eye contact with me unabashedly. She didn't follow the gentleman who entered the store at the same time as me , who touched everything and bought nothing. She didn't follow the very large group of boisterous Indians that was literally making it impossible to just get what I need without having to wait for them to quit goofing around (she was Indian so I'm assuming bias on her part). No, she followed me. For six years I have shopped that location and since I shop in small quantities at a time, I'm there everyday if not, every other day. I have never been made to feel so judged like FreshCo's "security guard" made me feel. When you get to FreshCo on Westmount, remember there is literally another grocery store in every direction from that location. I believe that I was falsely profiled. As someone who's job is sensitive to public reputation I can't risk being labelled and profiled incorrectly. An FYI for anyone who is also sensitive to these types...
Read morei saw very disrespectful-shameless act today. A security guard (lady) who was working near about 9:00PM at this store used disrespectful and harsh words towards the customers who was also a "SECURITY guard" as written on his dress. The lady security guard of freshco denies the entry of the customer who was also a security guard (IN Dress) . She said, "take out" your west..after he talked to her in a respectful way but this girl*asked HIM to remove his jacket also.. question:: is there any rule to remove the professional dresses before entering the Freshco. Disrespectful/harsh words towards a customer who is entering in the store are valid????? Who the hell is allowed to make the person/or to torture the person in this cold weather by removing his clothes!!!!
even i called this store regarding this matter,,,one of their worker said its a rule to remove the west.... i think rather than making guesses on phone they should use gather the knowledge and train their staff who is making Mess with customers in a disrespectful way.
*very very disturbing and disrespectful action towards a respectfull...
Read moreOnly 1 star simply because of the carts and also the fact thay will only ever have one cashier open even though there is numerous people waiting! Never fails with always getting a cart with one wheel having a bad flat spot due to the automatic wheel lock from people still trying to make off with a cart🙄..Also the security guard constantly looks at you as if you are a thief and is not very friendly..Always use the Self check-out and the staff running it is always good, always helps when needed and to date always are very friendly and positive, considering all the rude and disrespectful people they have to deal with on a daily basis...Need to brainstorm with all your employees and think outside the box for the cart solution...Saddening when seeing the elderly fighting to push any of your carts they are such bad shape and the elderly rely on those carts...I have personally seen and know of many people avoiding this location becuase of the cart wheel problems...In the end, they absolutely do not care about their customers..
P.S:Just called and Christmas Eve hours are...
