T&T Supermarket Woodbine Store — Local services in Markham

This is the store that I do the majority of my shopping in as I live in the area so it makes sense.

Price wise, for what I buy, they are on par with stores that offer the same food. 3/5

Overall cleanliness of store = 5/5

Fruits/Veg - prices are a tad steep, but given the current issues with food supply, gas costs, and dollar exchange values, I am not surprised. Quality is typical. 4/5

Meat section - I only buy my cats meats from here. Ok prices and quality for feeding to my felines. Given how I see on a daily basis how the fish go from being seen on The Walking Dead to being on ice in a display on special just gags me. Who knows what happens to the other animals! 2/5

Fish section - STINKS, seriously, the smell hits you when you walk into the building. Even my cats won't touch it. Fish is not supposed to smell... not that bad, not like that! 0/5

Live Fish section - STINKS too... and is constantly and consistently containing dead and dying fish, clams, and crabs, etc. How people buy these barely alive already decaying creatures and eat them is beyond me. The tanks are always overstocked too. Cruel and Unsanitary. 0/5

Tofu/Soy section - AWESOME. Lovely selection. Would give a 5/5 if it were not for the soy milks going off before expiry, but hey, no biggy. 4/5

Bulk section - GREAT. 4/5 (Get rid of the no taste testing sign, as we've come home with some rather stale nuts)

Sauces/Condiments/Seasonings - GREAT selection , really wish I could read Chinese or other similar languages so I knew what things were. I would love to try them. 5/5

Breads/Cakes/Pastries - Awesome. 4/5

TL;DR: Safety problems at a premium price, not worth the risk.

I saw with my own eyes that they open your PACKAGED fruits, clip away the rotten parts and put the not so visually rotten ones back in at a discounted price. But everyone should know that it’s something extremely dangerous to ingest, and it’s far beyond edible as soon as these signs of rotting are shown. Beware when you buy a box of something that isn’t fully filled, or better yet avoid all T&T locations altogether. I know it’s tempting, they have a great selection of Asian stuff, but we have seen far too many expired products on their shelf - with consistency - that it isn’t worth it. I bet if you go there and dig around, you’ll find something bad. Plus, there’s always a tiny section of half rotten, moldy foods on discount for around one dollar at the northern side of the building, where the seafood is. That alone should tell you how far they would go to make a few extra bucks.

Also, I’m seeing a trend here of their management replying to negative reviews: do not be fooled by this act, as I’ve filed complaints with the food inspection agency many years ago but their shady practices have not changed. It would take a miracle for their higher ups to start seeing senses. Offering exchange for dated products isn't good enough, as I'm sure not everyone can be bothered to always check best before dates before buying. At the end of the day we just want the peace of mind that our food is safe, but sadly it isn't what T&T...

I recently visited the T&T Supermarket, and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. As soon as I entered, I noticed how clean and well-organized the store is. The aisles were tidy, and the products were neatly stacked, making it easy to find what I needed.

I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for quality products and excellent service. The only reason I didn’t give a full five stars is that the checkout line was a bit slower than expected, but it didn’t significantly detract from the overall experience.
