I really, really liked coming here but I won't be coming here anymore. TLDR: Misunderstanding leads to booking the wrong appointment leads to me getting BLOCKED by the nail salon! (All caps for added drama).
A few what I consider to be misunderstandings happened that led to the salon screening my calls and not allowing me to book an appointment over the phone anymore.
I had to reschedule a couple Saturday appointments, and I believe I had a misunderstanding/miscommunication with the person booking my new appointment over the phone that lead to me putting the wrong date in my calendar for the appointment. I thought I had booked for the NEXT Saturday, when their records noted I had booked for the COMING Saturday. Chaos and consequently sadness ensued.
I had COVID on the Saturday they had marked as my appointment day, and they called asking where I was. I tried to explain that I had COVID and that I had booked or thought I booked for the following weekend (I had marked in my calendar for the following weekend). They said I was wrong, but I know that I would not have booked an appointment on a weekend that I had COVID. đ I am sure it was a misunderstanding, and that happens, and that's not big deal.
But then today I tried to book a new appointment and the salon wasn't picking up. I thought hm, they must be busy. But then I called 3 more times (4 total) and it became clear that someone was picking up and then immediately hanging up. I called on my roommate's phone and they answered, I asked what was going on and explained things on my end. They told me that I was no longer allowed to book on the phone anymore and that I could come for walk-ins only. I told them that I probably wouldn't be coming in anymore at all.
I never intentionally missed appointments, and thought, when previously rescheduling appointments, that I was giving enough notice over the phone to reschedule, as I wasn't made aware of a rescheduling policy, and would give in my recollection at least 48 hours notice. I understand that it is inconvenient for a client to reschedule, but I didn't think that my scheduling was unreasonable, especially when life simply happens and I believed I had given enough notice.
In future, I wonder if the salon could make clients' aware of a rescheduling policy for situations such as these.
I am sad because a) I never intended to inconvenience the salon b) I liked the service here and I really, really like the set I got done, i got them done a couple weeks ago and they are still looking great and still feel strong (picture attached) c) The prices are also really good and the nail techs I've had have been LOVELY, d) I was hoping to make this my regular nail salon and e) I never expected to get blocked by a nail salon without any explanation or without them trying to ask what happened, as I think, as I said, it all came down to being a misunderstanding.
Also, I apologize to the salon for any inconvenience I've caused for the reschedules.
So again, sad I won't come back here but I'm not really comfortable coming back...
Read moreA few days ago I went to this salon for my gel manicure appointment. I was served by this friendly Vietnamese nail tech, who unfortunately could not speak English nor French. So when I explained to her and showed her what kind of nail design I wanted (it was so simple and required only the colour I had picked), she had a hard time understanding. Realizing what was going on, the manager came and translated what I wanted. After a few tries, I realized she couldnât do what I wanted. So I settled for a simple application.
When came the time to pay for my 46$ gel manicure, I selected the 10% tip option (which equals 4.60$). I was upset that I didnât get the design I wanted and had to settle for a simple application. So I thought it was fair to give a 10% tip.
But as soon I pressed the 10% tip button, the MANAGER grabbed the machine from my hands and kept on insisting that I should be tipping more. ???? I was just in shock. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. I did not voice a single complain about my experience, but she had the audacity to ask me to tip more??? When I told her how I felt, she kept insisting that I wasnât tipping enough and that her tech still tried to do the simple design I wanted (despite failing). She kept the machine and she wouldnât let me proceed with the payment (until she did). It was downright unprofessional, and even embarrassing for her. It made me so uncomfortable. I will not be...
Read moreSalon was highly recommended, I was so excited for my manicure. I called and made an appointment for 2pm and told them it was for a full set. When I arrived they said they had understood that I wanted a pedicure. No problem, mistakes happen...I asked if I should come back, thinking she would tell me to come back in 10-15 minutes, since she was finishing a client. Instead they told me they could only see me 1.5 hours laterđł there were 3 techs but apparently only one can do gel tips. I couldnât wait that long and they just said âsorryâ...so disappointing.
Perhaps they should train more staff in all services offered. The experience left a very sour taste in my mouth.
Luckily the salon a few blocks down squeezed me in (Ongles Than Mai) and did an excellent job. Itâs too bad when places get popular and forget how to provide...
