Lescurier has a reputation for making good croissant. I recently tested this and they are indeed, some of the very best I have tasted in this country. 3 days ago, on my last day of a week-long business trip to Montreal, I visited their shop on Van Horne just after 8:00 AM. I purchased a cake box of croissants, chocolate croissants, raspberry croissants, almond croissants, chocolatines, a raisin danish and a chausson aux pommes for good measure. The box travelled home with me on a 4-hour flight, squished and jostled on the single square foot (or less) available space in front of a standard cattle class seat. Luckily it did not get trampled. Amazingly, the croissants and associated pastries all survived without too much damage. As croissants go, these are BIG. You get your money's worth. They are unashamedly made with butter. One minute in a hot toaster oven is enough to revive all the aroma within. They are flaky and light. They are tasty. Simple goodness! Every pastry in the box I brought back home lived up to expectation. Worth every penny, worth every bit of the effort to travel with that awkward cake box, even in an economy seat. If you travel to Montreal, do yourself a favor: treat yourself to one or more Lescurier pastries. I cannot say it better than that.

Delicious chocolate and other desserts but the employees can be rude. My partner and I stopped going here due to one female employee acting very annoyed/exasperated with us on several occasions. Decided to stop here on my way home today for a chocolatine (which was delicious) but she was there, still sighing and rolling her eyes. Unfortunate. ⚠️ Editing this several months later to say that despite the rude employee still somehow working here, my partner and I decided to come here occasionally for their bread and delicious pastries. Not gonna let a grouchy person ruin a good thing for us anymore 😊 Edited 3 stars to 4 and adding photos. Oh, and the coffee eclairs? To die for.

Great find in Outremont! We ordered a brioche des rois and it was fantastic! Light, citrusy and sweet with candied fruit, it was a hit all around. Also tried their croissants and while very very crispy on the ends, they were just buttery and flaky enough. Prices are fair for quality and service was great!

I want to share the experience I had with Alex PLATEL, my daughter asked me to bring her strawberry tarte from there, so I drove from Lasalle for 40 minutes, I reached there than I ordered, paid than reached home after 40 minutes drive back and opened the box and it was nothing close to what I ordered, I called and they told me that they are sorry but next time will give me 10% discount, I am not waiting for their charity, the feeling is too hard to understand that they even did not understand how much I’m pissed, the minimum what I want is the owner, GM I don’t know whom, will tell me that no worries will deliver the cake to your place and do the exchange, “they will waste their time not mine” this what we called service from a place that charge 1.5$ for a little piece of chocolate, I am not rating the taste or the quality as they are good,, but the service destroyed the...

SO good -- genuinely one of the best croissants I've ever had, including compared to the ones in Paris! Lescurier / Alex Platel features beautiful, perfectly flaky croissants with the most gorgeous laminated dough and golden brown crust. The pastries are buttery and rich, but not so much so that it feels overwhelming, which means that, despite being quite large, they don't feel overly heavy or dense. The chocolatine / pain au chocolat also gives an opportunity to try their delicious home-made chocolate, which is phenomenal!

They don't have any seating inside, but they're located right next to a few parks and stretch of streets with plenty of benches. It's a great spot to pick up a few pastries before enjoying a good walk or hanging out outside. I am SO incredibly excited to have found this spot, and I can't wait to come back to try more of their pastries...
