What a pleasant surprise. I come to Windsor quite often and look for decent Indian food to eat. Tried several places over past few visits, was disappointed, and than I gave up. However, during my last trip to Windsor, I again felt the urge for Indian food, and after brief research decided to try out Tandoori Taste of India (beware of similar named one on Wyndott, food where is not good). I was bit apprehensive at first, but decided to give it a try. Let me warn you first that - this place is a small family owned takeout only place and do not do delivery. It is very modest looking place and a half empty mini plaza on the edge of the town. However, the first sign was a very good one - when I reached the site, they told me it will take 2 hours as everything was made fresh, and they had several orders backlogged ! I was hungry, but decided wait. The young girl who took my order was very attentive and helpful in make sure I understand the portion sizes and spice levels. When food was picked up the smell was very authentic (I can tell, as have tried 100's of restaurants across four continents (travel a lot). Taste was very 'fresh' with genuine spices. I loved it. The portions were descent, and unlike other places, rice is included in the price. Pricing was very affordable and four dishes we ordered between 3 adults, had half food left over !! The only short-coming was the Naan, which was relatively small - unlike what we find in Brampton / Mississauga / Toronto. Apart from that all dishes were just perfect.
Advise to the owners - expand into a better location, with descent sitting area. I would love to bring family and friends. Current location is inconvenient and lack of sitting area meant that I had to wait for another half hour before I go to hotel and eat. Windsor lacks serious Indian sit down restaurant, and this one has an excellent opportunity with great food. I surely recommend this to others, and will...
Read moreI dont know how this restaurant is in business. They open at noon. It is take out. You would expect that you would come in and order and get your food 15 mins maybe 30 minutes later. Wrong. If u come exactly at noon which I did and they were still closed, Your order wont be ready until 2 pm. So what is the use. Usually take out restaurants they prepare early and have things ready ao people can get their food and go I kindly suggest to the owners that they put in their website that it is better to put your order 24 hours prior so it will be ready at 2 pm the next day. I am not sure if you order the day prior will your order be ready at noon for lunch time? As for me i will never go there or order no matter how good it is. I can not comment on the food as i tried to order and was told that they just opened and food won’t be ready until 2pm. They were nice don’t take me wrong but i am here for the food. The place is...
Read moreI am Punjabi, and very picky....seriously, this is the best Punjabi food I have had outside of home.
THE FOOD This place is all about the food. We have ordered out several times - naan, samosas, tandoori chicken, daal, paneer....is all we have tried so far, and it is the best we have ever had. Even my mom has conceded to their awesomeness.
THE SERVICE These are good people. Don't count out the possibility that you may want to hug them before you leave. I have to disclose, they have endeared our family already...and we now consider them as friends.
THE ATMOSPHERE Unfortunately, they do not have eat in options as of now - I hear it is in the works. The place is very clean and spartan. Again, it is all...
