In my opinion, the name of this place is highly confusing Brampton: we are not in Brampton though.. and in my opinion the prices do not reflect those in Brampton either... Authentic Indian Food: Pizza... is not exactly "authentic Indian food" ... I don't think.... I could be wrong though............
In my opinion the prices of this store are incredibly insane For instance, I think the steamed long grain rice is around $2.50 (don't quote me, I could be wrong)... and the quantity in my opinion is so small! One entire bag of rice costs like 10 bucks... for around 2kg! Also there are several fantastic Asian restaurants in Ottawa who give steamed rice complimentary when you order a dish. When you buy a curry, you would expect to get something to eat with it - such as rice, or roti. You can't eat a curry by itself. But if you want something to eat with the curry you purchased, you have to buy it separately - at least this is what happened in my experience, maybe with certain curry dishes you get these things?
In my opinion there are not enough seats in this facility In my opinion 3 tables or so is not enough... there is no washroom for the public to use - at least I didn't see one, don't quote me on this because I could be wrong. In my opinion there should be a bathroom in a restaurant.. is this place a restaurant? I believe the website clearly says "Best Indian Restaurant In Ottawa" in green text at the time of writing this review. I'm not sure though.....
I'm generally confused by this store Is it a sweet shop? Is it a meat shop? Is it a restaurant? Or is it fast food? I still couldn't tell you...
Lastly, overall, the standard and quality of this store is not up to my standards. Different people have different standards but I personally did not get a good vibe being in here. Also in my opinion the food is just average. I don't mind paying high prices - such as those found in East India Company, but then I would expect some ambiance in the place and some excellent tasting food. In my opinion this place just didn't live up to what I was expecting - especially with the prices I...
Read moreI went in on a whim to order a small butter chicken and rice. Someone (I believe the owner) recommended me to get the non-veg thali combo as I would get bigger portions of everything a lot to try. It was absolutely a good value for how much food you get.
Butter Chicken: You can definitely taste the tomato. A bit too much for me. The taste was almost like a spicy can of Campbell's tomato soup. I don't take this against the dish but it's not how I would say most butter chicken tastes. There were 2 pieces of chicken in the portion. Not too bad but I was hoping for 3 or 4. A lot of sauce in the sauce to meat ratio.
Goat Curry: My first time trying goat! Was very excited and my first bite was a little fatty. I wasn't knocked it up to being a one-off kind of deal. No big deal. 2nd bite was amazing. The meat very very rich and juicy and properly marinated. The sauce was spicy and very delectable! My 3rd and final piece of goat turned me off a lot. It was just fat and bone. No meat. I'm not sure if this is the standard but 2 pieces of predominantly fat of my 3 pieces of goat was disappointing.
There was a third vegetable dish in it as well that was kind of sweet and spicy. (I apologize for not remembering the name) Also very very tasty!
Rice was a good portion but I think in future visits where I decide to get this, I will ask for an extra portion to soak up the goat curry sauce as well.
Absolutely HUGE pieces of naan! Was very happy to see how much naan I got!
Gave the yogurt and gulab jamun to my roommate as I'm not huge on sweet stuff and he said they both tasted great.
The staff here are very kind and outgoing. I had a really good conversation with the owner. The owner also threw in a free vegetable samosa (5/5, very tasty) which was very kind of him.
Overall, I'll return and will update my review to reflect my next experience but this first time let me down a little bit when it comes to the meat quality in my goat curry. I heard this restaurant has been in business for 10 years and the owner spoke with a lot of conviction and confidence in this restaurant. Please...
Read moreI recently came to this restaurant on referral of a friend. I'm not one to leave bad reviews unless it is honestly and actually deserved. I purchased 1 kilo of goat meat, while waiting for it to be packed I chatted with the owner's wife. Seemed to be nice people. Once I reached home, I opened the bag and began washing it. I was going to cut the meat into small pieces as they were quite large, but I was unable to as it was MOSTLY a bag of bones and less meat. For the price of $22 a kilo, I'm shocked. I then called the restaurant and explained to the them the situation and quality of the meat I bought The man said, if you have not yet marinated the meat, bring it back and I'll accept it, Also, I don't live close by. Not at one time did he even attempt to apologize. He said according to who is my price expensive? I am beyond shocked, disturbed and disgusted with this service. Of course every business is there to make a profit, but first thing, you MUST provide a good quality and service to build a name, especially if you want to charge ridiculously high prices. The thing that really made me upset is when I said, I will put a review on your website if this is the way you do business. He said, don't threaten me, I don't care, do what you want. I have guests coming over for dinner now and I'm stuck with more goat bones then meat, what a disaster. After again trying to explain my situation, he simply HUNG UP the phone on me. Wow, now that's impressive service from the OWNER himself. I don't expect people to not try it out based on my review, but once you do experience it and have a similar situation, you'll realize how these people really are. If this business lasts, I will be shocked. I don't mind paying higher prices for quality meat, but not for this and disgusting customer service. I will NEVER return to this location. Rest is up to you all new...
