Unfortunately based on the minimizing form letter response from the chains head office, which indicated dismissively that they would send a memo to all restaurants to “Follow correct procedure’s” this will be our final visit to any of their restaurants in the future.
This was our second visit to an Allô! Mon Coco restaurant – The first was to the location in Pointe-Claire, Montreal prior to COVID-19…. The experiences were similar, hence our concern direct to the head office.
Why are Allô! Mon Coco breakfasts served on ice cold plates?
On our recent visit to the College Square location in Ottawa, both breakfasts arrived on “to the touch, ice cold plates” that had obviously been chilled.
Initially the food was hot, however it cooled at a rapid point to becoming cold due to the cold transfer to the hot food fare.
We attempted to enjoy our meal and not complain as this was a special birthday for the lady in the party and our first meal out in some fifteen plus months, not to mention the restaurant had only just re-opened from lockdown and may not have been fully up to speed.
However, neither of us finished our meals due to the fact that eggs & food fare are less than enjoyable when cold.
Lodging a complaint at the time would have defeated the enjoyment of the special time out, not to mention we felt sorry for the restaurant & staffs.
In reflection the last time we had a breakfast out in the Allô! Mon Coco Pointe-Claire, Montreal location the breakfast was also served on ice cold plates and the home potatoes were served too cold to eat. The waitress apologized profusely and assured us that next time she would personally see to us getting hot food.
In reflection we see a pattern either purposely or through misadventure of “Ice cold Plates”, cooling off breakfast fare meant to be eaten hot.
After spending just over $48 with tip and with both of us unemployed due to COVID-19 we are just loath to dine at a chain of establishments that may through misadventure or chain policy serve food that becomes cold before it can be partially consumed.
Why are the Allô! Mon Coco breakfasts at the two locations mentioned serving meals on ice cold plates?
The dismissive response we received from Allô! Mon Coco gives us the answer we needed...
Read moreThis is going to be long. I wish there was a way to give them no stars at all. Very disapointed in this location. Even though we had great experiences before. I guess after getting famous they lost their respect to the customers that supported them and made them famous in the first place. We called earlier today to make a reservation, we were told that they are nlt doing reservations today and that we should expect 40min to 1 hour wait. We wanted to make a reservation for 5 adults and 7 kids. I made sure to arrive at 11:50AM to add our info to the wait list. We had to wait in our cars for almost 2 hours. During that time I went inside several times and was not given an aproximate time for how long more we should wait. Last time I went in to check it was around 2:30pm, and I was told that it's really hard to get us seated because we are a big group. Meanwhile 2 or more large groups got in and seated after waiting around 30 min(I saw that because my car was parked infront of the restaurant). I think it was mainly because we had children with us. I told the waiter that kids are going to order and eat their own plates and not share with us lol. I told her they are little and we can go on 2 different tables if needed, but she refused. There were few empty tables here and there that smaller groups were able to get right away. I asked her how long more we should wait. She said we will call you when your turn comes. Then i told her that if our turn comes, she was like no no your turn will come for sure. Well guess what, they never did call us. They never did text us even to apologies. After waiting that long we took the kids to a fast food restaurant nearby instead. I do undertand that it's a busy season and that restaurants are busy. But not to the point to pick and choose which customer you want to accept. Not to the point that you keep customers waiting over 3 hours with no call or apology. We will definitely not visit this branch again and will make sure to share our bad experience with...
Read moreThis is my first visit at this restaurant. My guest and I went for breakfast at around 9:00 am March 26. The first thing that caught my eye as I walked in was a sign posted where they charge a 15% surcharge for parties over 6 persons. Not the best way to greet customers especially if you bring your family. There were about 8 guests in the restaurant. We were greeted and the server presented us with the menu. I ordered a coffee to start. I couldn't believe the size of the cup. It wasn't more than 4 oz. It was weak and lukewarm. Needless to say I didn't ask for seconds. I ordered the Choco Coco Deluxe; 2 eggs, 3 slices of bacon, crispy potato cubes, crepe filled with strawberry and cream along with a slice of watermelon, grape fruit and buttered toast $22.35. My guest order a hot chocolate; $5.25 and Poutine Philly QC $21.00 which by the way doesn't appear on their online menu. The crispy potatoes tasted like they had been fried in old cooking oil and gave off an after taste. They even let off the smell of burned fries so I set them aside. I brought this to the waiter's attention where he offered mashed potatoes. (who eats mashed potatoes with bacon and eggs). I declined the offer. I had one bite of the toast. It was hard with hardly any butter. I set those aside. The bacon was a bit over cooked and warm, the crepe was crispy/overcooked rather than soft as it should be. As for my guest's poutine, he gave it a 6 out of 10. Not sure I'll go back. First the sign on the door turned me off. Overall the quality of the food was substandard. They need to do regular changes of their oil and perk up on the coffee, reset their toasters, keep their bacon in a warmer. The staff and server...
