I generally don’t like writing negative reviews about small businesses as I’m a big supporter for them, but I was quite disappointed when there was a bit of confusion when I was signing up for an upcoming prerelease. I usually check the play Pokemon website and the newly phone application for places to play and engage with local communities. I’ve checked many times to see when this local shop would drop there tickets for sale which was indicated for September 20th, 2025 and kept trying to communicate with I’m assuming the owner of the shop over social media as there’s no phone contact. Before he released the tickets I double checked the play Pokemon app and saw September 20th, 2025 and when the owner messaged me that tickets were up after I was checking after hour before asking about when tickets will be up, he told me they were up and I bought a ticket for me and my partner quickly without thinking as prerelease tickets are known to sell out quickly. I then saw that the dates were changed to September 13th, 2025 and quickly messaged the owner about the confusion and was told that it updated way ahead of time and that I should have seen it. I kindly informed the owner when I last checked it said September 20th, 2025 and the only reason why I signed up was because I will be out of town during the initial prerelease dates of most LGS starting from September 13th weekend which I will not be able to attend, and that I would appreciate a refund so I can purchase tickets for a different shop that has dates I can participate. He told me to read the policy and that no refunds were allowed despite me informing him that money was intended for a prerelease and if I don’t get a refund I can’t afford another prerelease which was suppose to be a date night with my partner. I felt as if I was mislead and it would have been nice to be informed that dates have changed before telling me to buy the tickets. The lack of empathy was disheartening when I read positive reviews and was told by other players that this shop was genuinely good. Again, I understand certain policies exist to protect shops but given the situation with no room for exception has made me distraught as a 100 dollars is a lot for some people. Again, I’m not writing this out of malicious intent as I believe the benefit of doubt as this could been an isolated incident in my interaction but hope this hasn’t...
