White Spot Sweden Way — Restaurant in Richmond

My fiance and I came to this location and left very disappointed with the experience with the hostess. We are big fans of White Spot but won't be returning to this location after a couple bad experiences with the staff here.

There was another couple already waiting for a table (let's call them couple A). After standing around for a few minutes and not being acknowledged by the hostess standing there, I went up and asked her if we needed to put our names down. She said yes. Couple A did not realize this, so I told them to put their name ahead of us since they were there first. Let's call us couple B.

After about another 5 minutes, couple C walks in. The same hostess then proceeds to walk -them- to their table instead. Couple C looks at us and Couple A, and ask if we were all waiting. We both said yes, and so I went to the hostess table and peered down at the book. Turns out, she had crossed out Couple A and our names, when it was obvious both of us were still waiting for a table. I pointed out to the hostess that our names were crossed out.

She looked at me blankly and said, "Oh. Well your name is crossed out." What a useless answer. I responded to her "Yes, but both of us haven't gotten a table yet?" to which she blankly said "oh" again, left for a few minutes. What kind of response is that? Couple C was in shock at what happened as well, and asked the manager if the staff was in training. The manager laughed and told them no. ??? Anyways, couple C said that they would give their table to couple A or us first.

Us customers ended up sorting the issue out themselves. Meanwhile, the hostess was extremely useless. I am not sure why she wouldn't give couple A/us the table instead of saying 'your names were crossed off' when clearly we were...

January 2, 2022. Called in a takeout order at 7:24 was on the phone for about 6 mins as the person taking my order kept putting me on hold. Ended the call at 7:30 and was told food should be ready in 20 mins I ordered 7 things, spot 4 pack, fettuccini, club sandwich, and bacon cheddar burger. When I got to the restaurant at 7:50 I was told they were just packing my order, well that turned into a few minutes which turned into another 20 mins of waiting in the restaurant for a total of 40 mins.When I finally got my order none of it was even taped down the top of the bags were just open, if you know the order is to big for the top of the bags to fold down and put a spot checked sticker on why not just add another bag ?

From the restaurant to my house is about a 5 min drive, when I got home and opened up my order and started giving it to my family members we noticed our food was cold when we touched it. Our food that was in the plastic tupperware was also dry and looked like it was under the heat lamp for too long as the edges of the plastic containers were slightly melted. The four burgers within our legendary spot pack were all missing cheese (which is an up charge) and one of the burgers had topping on it that weren't asked for. For all 5 of our burgers and our one club sandwich we never received any coleslaw.

When I phoned the manager about this issue he seemed so nonchalant about our order and never even apologized either for our orders issues.

This white spot is full of angry staff who obviously hate their job. We told them we were looking for a table of six. The hostess told us that it is a very difficult thing to accomodation for a Saturday lunch. Ok... not the most welcoming atmosphere... they asked us if we could fit the kids and the adults into a both, we said sure, we'd try. They later came back and said it was against the rules. Why offer it then? When we finally got to our table, we were only given one kids' menu. They specifically asked us how many kids we had on arrival, to which we replied with 3. Why give us 1 kids' menu with 3 kids? Are you trying to get them to fight? It took over 10 minutes for a server to take drink orders and rectify the kids' menu issue. It was longer for food. The kids were cranky, and it was just a mess. My sister and I ordered the same thing for brunch, and she got double the amount of hashbrowns I did. I would have said something, but no server was around, and no one ever checked to see how the meal was. The meals were over for a good 15 minutes before she came to take the ice cream order for the kids. The kids were so done at that point. We specifically choose White Spot because the staff are friendly, the wait is rarely long, and they can pump the food out quickly - exactly what you would want when dining out with kids. This white spot was far from capable of delivering that. Maybe a nice spot for a ladies' lunch... but...
