Best falafel in the city! I stumbled upon Noor Donair a few years ago, soon after they opened on Broadway and Fraser. I grabbed a falafel donair while walking home from work and was impressed at the flavour and texture.
The seasonings are a delight for the taste buds and the texture is crisp on the outside and not mushy on the inside, but still soft. The second best falafels can be found at Jamjar. I have eaten falafels at almost every vegan and vegetarian restaurant in Vancouver and recently had a craving for shwarma so dragged my family to this convenience store. My daughter got the falafel platter and I ordered the chicken shwarma and we shared. I was thrilled to find out the falafels are still the best. It is not what you would expect from a donair shop inside a convenience store.
There are two tables in store, but most people grab and go. The greek salad is also good using bell peppers of all colours. It's not too heavy on the green peppers and onions so you actually finish the salad.
If you really enjoy falafels, or just want something fast and fairly healthy, I highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEDIT 2: 2 orders in 2 weeks, 2 spinach rolls missing. Will not order again, the food is good but there are missing items everytime.
EDIT: Removing stars due to error in delivery. After ordering 3 donairs, we only received 2. They asked us to order another item to get the missing donair delivered. Due to having to pay extra fees related to delivery, they said they would give a dessert in compensation, we asked for fries instead as desserts are too sweet and we cannot have them. They still gave a dessert and result is that one of us got his dinner later than us and we had to order extra food we didn't want. Very disappointed.
Just ordered via Uber Eats. The food tasted great, but I was disappointed by the portion size of the poutine for $10. Also, despite requesting no hot sauce in my donair, it was still included and far too spicy for my taste. It's a shame because otherwise, I would have thoroughly enjoyed it and given it a 5-star rating. On the bright side, it wasn't too...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe donair shop is inside a convenience store, but don't be put off by that, it's the real deal. I got the falafel platter and a pistachio baklava. It was one of the best falafel plates I've had in a while: big falafel patties smothered in flavourful sauces on top of qabuli rice with loads of juicy raisins (so great that qabuli rice is an option), fresh and tangy salad, smooth and rich hummus. I am very picky about baklava and so usually skip it, but theirs looked promising and I didn't regret getting it - it was appropriately moist but not cloyingly syrupy and the filo layers struck just the right balance of flakiness and melt-in-your-mouth softness. It's open until midnight so I was able to count on them for a late night meal. I took mine out but there's two tables inside and I think a few counter seats. The attached convenience store also looks like it has a big variety of snacks, candy, cereal, ice cream, etc. The staff is nice in...
