I've been cutting my own hair for a few years so a friend thought it would be nice to treat me to a professional haircut and found a groupon for Heartbreaker Salon. I would recommend that people bring a photo of the haircut they want or be prepared to provide complete direction on a style because I relied on the stylist and all I got was my hair cut straight across with no layers or style. I asked her to help with my bangs which were pretty grown out and she only trimmed them a tiny bit. I asked for a haircut that was different than how I had been cutting it myself and left with the same haircut I came in with, only cut straight across at the bottom.
Maybe the sad haircut was because it has been so long since I have been to a professional salon and was not expecting to have to negotiate for a haircut or because I came with a groupon.
I would not say the groupon was honored because it indicated it was for a wash-cut-blowdry-style and there was no styling in any way and the cut was not of the quality I would expect from a professional salon. The haircut I received would be better described as a trim. The wash was nice, the products smelled nice, she did blow dry my hair and technically there was a haircut although it was as simple as a haircut can get. What I received was a wash-trim-blowdry, not what was paid for on the groupon.
I would not say the experience was worth the price of the groupon. I would recommend if people are paying full price that they prepare to haggle and provide complete direction to get a full haircut, otherwise they may do the barest minimum of a haircut as was my experience.
I've had really great haircuts by having stylists recommend haircuts for me and was really hoping this salon had style to share, but that was not the case. None of my friends or coworkers believed that I had gone to a salon to get my haircut because my hair looked identical to before I had gone to Heartbreakers.
The atmosphere of the salon was nice, so it feels bad to complain to get what you paid for. If you want them to do more than trim your hair you will need to do more than ask. Be prepared to provide complete direction and negotiate, which ruins the mood, but so does a sad haircut if you don't persist in getting a better one as I now know...
Read moreReally sad to say I had a miserable experience with Heartbreaker. I'm sorry to be leaving a negative review because I know from many friends that they've had amazing experiences with this salon, in particular from Heidi! However, I was not so lucky! Went in about 8 weeks ago and had Janine dye my hair, I showed her pictures of Jessica Chastain (my dream hair, a light ginger) and said i'd do whatever to get that colour. She was excited, showed me some little sample strands of hair and talked about what number of lightness my hair was (which honestly i still dont understand, sorry if i sound dumb lol!) and said we could do it without bleach. I came out with bright carrot orange hair, it actually looked terrible. The roots were neon, and on the underside of my hair it was this kind of odd bright orange brown. I immediately contacted her via the info that was on her card, which she gave me. (On instagram). She never responsed, I tried to text the number on the card, unsuccessfully, no response. After that I was in the hospital for weeks, not trying to pull a sob story, but I physically was not allowed to contact anybody with a phone. Went back in today, as I'd finally gotten a hold of somebody, and was sent an email saying that I can absolutely come in and have it fixed, and was booked in. Upon seeing Janine she said she wouldnt fix it for me, as I hadnt reached out in 2 weeks..... Even though she admitted she missed my messages on instagram..... So I wasted an hour of my day to come out, after being told it would be fixed. I'm honestly heartbroken, colouring my virgin hair ive taken 6 years to get healthy again was so exciting for me, but now its just this weird orange brown and I feel really let down! Don't think i'll be going back, and if I do I will definitely have to book with...
Read moreThis place is hit or miss depending on which hairdresser you choose. I had one good experience, 1 average, and 2 negative ones. The first negative experience, I asked for “layers” but my stylist was so noticeably stressed out she made my bangs look like a staircase. She even apologized yet somehow I still left $100 in the hole.
As for my most recent negative experience, I called in weeks ahead of time to book a slot for a Friday at 4pm, which was their latest availability that day. I told them I wanted balayage and that I had very long thick hair, so to ensure extra time was booked. When I arrived and sat down, my stylist looked at my hair and said she “didn’t have enough time for balayage” and that she “didn’t want to be here past closing.” She told me I was not clear during my booking about my hair thickness, that it would take “over 6 hours.” I had been there for EXACT same styling a few months prior which went well and only took 3 hours .
It was clear she was a novice and had plans that evening she didn’t want to miss. So I left with just a cut, yet again paying too much for something I didn’t want. I found this extremely unprofessional and the last straw. I won’t...
