I'm a frequenter to Granville Island during summers. I've always passed by this place and never noticed. A week ago my co-worker gave me a gift, deliciously wrap up. I opened it up and voila, Pâté. A mixture of cooked ground meat and fat minced into a spreadable paste. Common additions include vegetables, herbs, spices, and either wine or brandy. Pâté can be served either hot or cold, but it is considered to develop its fullest flavor after a few days of chilling. My favorite, in Vietnam, pâté (gan xay) is commonly used on bánh mi baguette type sandwiches. Pâté of this type is more commonly made from liver. The most famous pâté is probably pâté de foie gras, made from the livers of fattened geese. Oyama sausage does a serious pâté that is to die for. My co-worker told me this pâté copes with her pms LOL. I believe what she says cause when I tried it holy smokes. Savoury, rich, bit buttery but not so much. It's soft and the finesse of its taste. Silky. It is a very delicate meal, quite fragile and in its most common preparation, love it served cold. I detected truffle... It's a unique taste. It's difficult to imagine, based on words from a page. This is something you have to experience to truly understand how wonderful it is. I'm definitely gonna get much more. I'm sold.

I had an amazing experience at Oyama Sausage Co. today, thanks to Caleb, who was incredibly helpful and enthusiastic while assisting me with my order. I used to pre-order their Swedish ham, but this time, I ventured into charcuterie shopping—and I’m so glad I did! I picked up a selection of salamis (the orange salami was my absolute favorite), some cheese, truffle duck pâté, maple syrup ham, and a few other goodies. The quality is unmatched! A quick tip: the line can get quite long, especially during peak times, so I highly recommend ordering online for pickup. If you’re shopping in-store, make sure to grab a number to secure your spot for assistance at the front. Oyama is truly one of the best deli shops in Vancouver—if not the best. Highly recommend stopping by for your charcuterie needs or any special treat!

When the words “”care and quality are used”” it is with a business like Oyama Sausage Company that these words are easily used..upon entering this very attractive space on Granville Island, the visual appeal of the specially prepared ingredients of the quality charcuterie of the hams, sausages and salami to name but a few of their products that are available..our order frequently includes a specialty fresh sausage and a great tasting Mushroom Armagnac pate….we took home a bison dish which was delicious with every bite..the staff are super helpful..their experiments with seasonal ingredients is worth a visit..we very frequently sit on our back deck to relax and totally enjoy the atmosphere that the Oyama Sausage Company creates with their exceptional products with our green space..

This is a negative review on one of your employees not your establishment. I love Oyama - it is the best. I can’t give a one-star review because the product is great. The service I received today however is appalling. I’ve been coming here for over 7 years.

I came this morning, early with my husband, and a woman with a baseball cap on helped us when it was our turn. She was abrupt to us initially but we didn’t really care, we were just there to order our stuff. She took my husband’s order and then another employee asked me if I wanted to order something to which I said yes. She became aware that I said yes and was offended that I didn’t know I should put my order in with my husbands, and gave me a big attitude because of it. I was seriously sorry...but then she just continued to be rude and abrasive.

Then I asked for some beef and she made a big deal out of asking which one I wanted when it was quite clear what I asked for (she was almost trying to make it seem like my order was complicated when it wasn’t?) asking me if I wanted the one to the far right (no where near the beef I pointed to) and then when I questioned her she began gaslighting me into thinking I didn’t know what I was ordering. It was so odd. Like, come on guys. This was ridiculous. I love Oyama - but this employee was certainly trying to take her negativity out on someone this morning and here I am writing this because I don’t appreciate it.

She was very rude to me and my husband and we’ve been coming here for years. We will come again, for sure. We just wanted to buy some delicious meat to enjoy by ourselves during COVID. She was not a pleasant person, so hoping she sees this.

Love Oyama though - best charcuterie in the city. Highly recommend- just not serviced...

Oyama Sausage deserves 5 stars hands down! No visit to Granville Island is complete without me spending way more than I intended to here. LOL. Grab a ticket and wait in line to be served by fantastic staff who know their stuff, are efficient and helpful and somehow manage to squeeze behind each other in the smallest amount of space back there! Definitely a well-oiled machine.

Let's start from the left. First stop: cheese. Always need some heavenly Shropshire Blue, mouthwatering Humboldt Fog and 12 month Manchego. Next, the saucisson sec is a staple. A couple of turkey pepperoni in hand while we wander around the rest of the market. My fave is the smoked beef tongue. 300 grams thank you very much! It brings absolute joy to my life. Ok, now we're into the fresh sausages. It is hard to show restraint as there's just SO MANY to choose from. If they have their Guinness beef, that's an automatic yes, please. Smoky bison is another family favourite and you can't go wrong with classic Bratwurst. I have not found a better sausage across the city. Just do it! I can never resist some pork Lyoner and beer sausage slices for the week's snacks. And finally, we have a finger width (yes, that's the official measurement!) of Creamy Mountain Mushroom pâté and if there's a party, you want to bring some pork rillettes to wow everyone.

Ok, I just made myself very hungry. Time for another visit! Get yourself down to Oyama Sausage and you won't be disappointed in anything. They are just the best at what they do! So grateful to have them...

The food was great as usual, service, not so much. I’m writing about a specific staff I interacted with today.

Sunday morning, the shop had a small queue, I don’t visit Granville island often, but whenever I go, I drop by the shop to buy some delicious meat as a treat.

The shop was robust and busy, there were many staffs working behind the counter. I was serviced by this lady, Sandy, which she printed her name on the package when I paid. The interaction was normal at first, I was in the middle of ordering when she suddenly turned away and started preparing my order, but I wasn’t done ordering yet. I figured she didn’t notice I was still talking, so when she turned back, I continued my order - and she got annoyed. You can see it on her face, she paused, held her hands in the air as if she was overwhelmed and said “ OK can I do one thing at a time?” I was taken aback by her attitude as I simply thought she didn’t hear me that’s why she didn’t finish taking my order before she starts preparing. Honestly, her attitude ruined my morning, I came in for a treat, was looking forward to it and don’t think I deserved to be treated this way. I’ve done nothing wrong. I was affected by her attitude but didn’t want to fight, I said sure and quietly waited till she finished preparing as I didn’t want to annoy her further.

It’s not a big deal, I understand the shop was busy, but her attitude was not ok and I didn’t appreciate it. Again, delicious meat, but the customer service from that staff could...
