Just bought a 4-pack of Nanaimo Bars at Shop Makers Gastown, even though Nanaimo Bars haven't been a favourite treat for me in the past.
This time was completely different--wow!! Your Nanaimo Bar takes this sweet to a new level - a quantum leap from the usual over-sweet bar. Absolutely delicious! You can tell that only the best ingredients are used. I'm not a frequent reviewer but this time I had to spread the word. I look forward to trying the Saskatoon Berry Lemon bar (what a devilish combo).
I've just read over the other reviews and while I agree these come at a high price for a small quantity, the price is certainly competitive with other high-end sweets. With the rising cost of ingredients (especially chocolate) and other manufacturing expenses, I think they are totally worth it. A luxury item to be savoured or gifted. Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy brother brought me a box of Northern Barsā Nanaimo Bars from Granville Market during a trip to Vancouver in September, and they were truly unforgettable! The layers were perfectly balanced ā a crunchy chocolate base, smooth custard filling, and rich chocolate ganache on top. Each bite was indulgent yet not overly sweet, which can be tricky to achieve with Nanaimo Bars.
They tasted so fresh and homemade, like they had just been prepared that day. The packaging also felt thoughtful and ideal for gifting, which made it even more special.
After experiencing these, Iām convinced that if I ever make it to Vancouver, Northern Bars will be one of my first stops at Granville Market. Itās a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality desserts or wants to try one of Canadaās iconic treats done...

Update: a friend just brought an āassortedā pack back from Vancouver. I appreciate the sentiment but I donāt know how you do a variety pack of Nanaimo bars. There is but one style of Nanaimo bar and the variations in the assorted box are an abomination. Couldnāt even finish the white and red one. Even the ones that are supposed to be authentic Nanaimo bars are a disappointment. No coconut texture and an oddly off-putting coffee taste somehow. To borrow a line from the CBC classic Street Cents, these āNanaimo barsā are āFit...
