Please read this review before colouring your hair at O Way! Patricia (owner) is a pro at flattery and will tell you everything that you want to hear.. My highlighted hair looks quite processed and I am so unhappy. Read on if you want the full details: I have fine and fragile hair that breaks easily and I don’t have a lot of hair. I had refrained from highlighting my hair because of the damage that lightening hair causes. I hadn’t coloured or highlighted for over 4 years, desperately trying to nurse it back to health. I had a gloss done in the fall at another salon to temporarily cover greys for a special occasion. 2-3 months later, I had demarcation and lots of red undertones. I went to O Way salon seeking a healthier hair alternative and spoke with Patricia in April 2023 ( the owner of the salon). The hair treatment she recommended was amazing and the rebuilding shampoo and hair mask are awesome. I asked her if it would be possible to colour my hair back to its natural colour (and stressed that I don’t want any demarcation as it grows because I can’t be colouring my hair too often due to its fragile nature ). I also asked her to get rid of those horrible red undertones and to add a few cool tone highlights that would look natural and be low maintenance. The result was lovely: but only FOR A WEEK!! The toner washed off and I was left with red tones, a ton of brassiness and 6 weeks later: DEMARCATION!! I stopped by the salon and pointed out all of these issues and asked her what I could do to remedy the problem. She suggested a toner ( but that would cover the highlights). This idea is actually a temporary fix since toner typically last for 6 weeks but her toner only lasted one week. I now have brown, grey, red and brassy gold colours. She assured me that I’m beautiful and that the colour is nice and no one even notices what I notice then called me a perfectionist. She used tactics of flattery and dismissed my concerns by playing them down and disagreeing with how I felt about how my hair looked. Her final advice: leave it alone because it’s so nice. Of course she will think her work is “nice.” STAY AWAY!!! I am disappointed that no apology or any real solution was offered. In trying to convince me how nice my hair looked, Patricia failed to adequately address my concerns and ensure customer satisfaction. She claimed she would be able to colour my hair to match my natural colour, get rid of the red tones and put in some nice highlights that looked natural and I wouldn’t need to come back for touch ups ( this is what I asked her for). She did not meet any of my requests. Btw, the hair lightener, although deemed to be natural, can still have harmful effects on hair. Although I was assured that there is no bleach in the hair lightener there are still ingredients such as Sodium Persulfate, Potassium Persulfate, and Ammonium Persulfate as well as Carbonate Hydroxide ( verify what these ingredients do; I wish I did before I naively believed what...
Read moreTo say that I’m disappointed and traumatized, is an understatement. I went to see Patricia for highlights to make my hair significantly blonder. She applied the foils in the front of my hair and let them process for just as long as the foils applied in the back. Needless the say. My hair was totally over processed. The foils were left in my hair for so long that the product burnt my forehead and scalp. She then applied a toner which changed the colour of my natural dirty blonde hair to a golden hue, which I never asked for. When she took the towel off my head, I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. My hair had turned grey around my face, and I had a combination of platinum and gold hair. I panicked. She then told me that it was a quick fix and applied two more toners. When those didn’t work, she put in lowlights to try and break up the massive chunks of platinum. She applied the lowlights while taking care of at least 5 other people, so she didn’t come and check on her work. The lowlights leaked out of the foils and created brown spots on the right and left side of my head. I was in tears. Patricia kept telling me how good I looked when I knew my hair had been completely ruined. I had been growing out my natural colour for years and had only put highlights on top. Patricia had completely massacred my hair and colour. I felt like my feelings were dismissed. She kept telling me it’s not a big deal and to come back in 5 days for a touch up. On top of all of this, she had cut my hair and almost let me walk out with a crooked hair cut. I had to point that out to hear in the midst of my breakdown. Patricia had no issue charging me 300$ for this, I just couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t wait the 5 days to have it fixed, so I went to a salon to have a colour correction done the next day, which took 5.5 hours to do and cost me nearly 600$. Thankfully, the colourist was able to help me, but I am still left with damaged and dried out hair even though she says her products are “organic”. I’ve never been so upset at a hair appointment. Patricia caused me so much distress, and if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Be mindful before going to Oway. They will make you feel like the most important person in the world until...
Read moreThank you Patricia for fixing my hair! I found O Way Coiffure on Google. Let me start by saying I usually do not die my hair.
I had had a bad experience at a supposedly “reputable” large franchise, which will remain unnamed. This hair salon franchise has stores across all of North America, I figured it way a safe place to have them dye my hair one shade darker than my natural color as it had been lightened by the sun. They ruined my hair! They colored it such a dark brown that it almost looked black with a cherry undertone. I was mortified. They claimed they could only fix it by either using a toner (which would make it darker but remove the red) or by “removing the color” (bleaching it) and re-dyeing my hair. I was very disappointed leaving their salon!
I went to speak with colorist from a few different salons, which were recommended to me by a friend. They all sad the same thing: the only way to fix my hair was to get a full head of highlights and that you would still see the blackish cherry color.
Patricia at O way told me she could also fix my hair with a full head of highlights and a gloss. I was extremely skeptical. How could she fix my hair if other colorists were saying they couldn’t? From my recent experience I didn’t feel I could trust anyone! I looked at Patricia's clients in the salon and noticed that each one had a very natural looking hair color. I took the plunge, I figure I had nothing to loose, my hair already looked terrible and at least this wouldn’t damage my hair.
Patricia and her team did an amazing job. She fixed my hair and actually got it back to looking like my natural hair color. I was amazed! Thank you Patricia and her team for fitting me into your busy schedule and fixing my hair! I would highly recommend her salon and organic...
