NWT Diamond and Jewellery Centre — Local services in Yellowknife

I would consider the time spent at the NWT diamond and jewellery centre as a prized possession. It came in as a surprise for us as we didn't expect it to be so exhilarating. The staff if I heard the name correctly Patricia has a plethora of knowledge in the history and origin of diamonds produced in Canada especially a subject matter expert in NorthWest Territories diamond mines. I loved the way she explained each and every bit of information starting from the prehistoric era dating back to 50 million years to the spectacular end product jewellery in front of our eyes. Very interesting and informative, they give a great presentation about diamond mining in Canada, and have a 20 minute video which expands upon it. Also showed us, through a loop, the arrows and hearts, explained the c’s , showed us colour difference as well as the laser etching on the diamonds. Patricia was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! I wanted a diamond from NWT, and she patiently looked up numbers from the pendants I was looking at to see if the diamond was NWT or Ontario. There are no high pressure sales here at all, don’t be afraid to go to only do the “tour”, when I went in there was a family with some children, and Patricia made sure to include them and make the information child friendly. I've been in here a few times, first with my own family when we moved here and then with other friends and family as they have visited. I love how you get a personal walkthrough about the mines in the area and how they operate. only drawback is that we weren't always offered the same things..... when I went on my own the first time you were able to look at diamonds under a microscope with explanations of what we were looking at, and that wasn't offered when I went in recently. Still a very excellent tour ! Especially loved seeing the diamonds cut...
