If you want to visit Playa Cristal DO NOT take the rickety launch from Taganga. It is dangerous. This type of transportation would NEVER be considered safe in Europe or the U.S. It is DANGEROUS & a horrifying experience. According to locals, there have been drowning accidents. The crossing takes 45 minutes & it is horrifying. Each uncovered launch is packed with 15 persons each. We were given raggedy life vest (likely never tested for bouyancy). 99% of the artious crossing is on open seas with high waves, some up to 2-3 meters high. The ride was unbearably rough & the splashing water hit so hard it hurt; everything was soaked. The seats were bench style with nothing to hold on to. Imagine the most horrifying ride at an amusement park; this one is worse. It was so dangerous & horrifying that as soon as we arrived, we found an alternative form of transportation back to Santa Marta. Never again. I suggest you instead go to Neguanje by land and take a short 5 min launch to Playa Cristal. Playa Cristal itself is OK; not as nice a beach as locals want you to believe. It is not a beach for children or persons who cannot swim. The sand is NOT white, which is what they claim. It gets deep very quickly and there was a light chop & strong current. It is a popular beach so it can get crowded easily. It gets very windy. Everyone raved about this particular beach but having been to many other beaches, it is just OK. The beauty & enjoyment of this beach is not worth The effort it takes to reach it. Beach was crowded. No lounges or covered beach area. Bathrooms filthy. Food greasy & over-priced. Never again.

Best tour operator ever to get to the Lost City!

Señor Carlos is a living legend and Jhon with his 22 years of experience has also a lot to share with you. The cook Carlos was great too and Aldair the translator was super helpful and friendly! During the trekking they were incredibly supportive and always tried to make the trek as manageable as possible to have the best experience out of it. Moreover they did everything to make us reach to lost city as the first group in the morning.

However, the office could be more attentive and helpful, especially with responding to emails, because repeatedly our questions didn’t get answered.

Summing up, I strongly recommend you to book Lost City Tour with...

We were not very happy with the tour. The guide didn't speak any English and with our little Spanish we found out that we will meet after one hour walking at a juice shop. When we arrived, no guide was there and after waiting for a while we continued on our own with the help of others. When we arrived at the final destination the guide said that she thought we kept walking and didn't wait for us. No apologies from her side. 45 dollars for only a bus ride and no guidance at all is far overpriced and I regret to have booked with this company. Unfortunately the worst experience we had...
