Do not get fooled by the sales people. We got of the bus at taganga, we foolishly agreed to the boat, meal and was told a private shaded area with seating. So off we went the boat trip was fine it only took few minutes. Got to beach and was brought to the shaded area just lines of chairs. The food was disgusting we did not eat anything at all and staff could not care less they wanted us to pay a tip for the two beers. Well my partner went to the toliet and came back it must have been bad she is a nurse and has a good stomach so shows how bad it was. Please please walk over to playa grande or get a boat do not do any of the tours and i would stay away from the so called restrauants. Bring water abd stuff can walk down from bus stop there are few shops there before going onto the beach walk away from the guys at bus stop funny they disappear so you cant complain to anyone. STAY AWAY FROM THE CROOKS AT BUS STOP. Come off bus from Santa Martha cross the road walk 5 minutes down the hill and you come to the beach some places are there and they were grand. You can walk arcross and hike to grand playa and you could walk across there further onto the trail walk 10 minutes to another beach. It is small and...

It’s worth snorkelling, but away from shore and do bring your own gear, because you don’t get a breathing tube when hiring a snorkelling tour, just a mask. And don’t believe the locals saying you will see corals while snorkelling. Some colourful fish yes, but the coral is all dead and truly a sad sight. In any case go early, because it gets truly busy after 11. Just for information, we paid 5000 for a seat. You can also hike from here to other smaller beaches. A quick 10 minute hike IN THE SUN(bring a towel on your head) will bring you to more...
Read moreA very nice beach alternative to the one on the Taganga waterfront. If you dislike crowds, you'll have to get there very early (8 or 9 am) if you want most of the beach to yourself. But the crowds start coming in earnest as the morning progresses, so if you don't want to be in a crowd of people you'll be looking to leave by noon at the latest. In the pictures I provide you'll see Playa Grande when there are masses of people, and when it is early in the morning for comparison.
Check out my blog post on how to get here (see URL in photos), as well as other beaches, in the Taganga area without having to pay for a boat shuttle! It is...
