Our nice vacation in Scandinavia ended with an interesting encounter with these two racist individuals from Copenhagen’s Eventyr Lounge. I have been enjoying the benefits of carrying American Express’ Priority Pass and Dragon Pass the last decades when I travel the Universe by myself or with my family and never been embarrassed and ridiculed by the lounge staff until today here at CPH airport. We walked in around 930 with my family and the lounge was half empty. The lady in the photo asked how many guests I have with me and I said 8. To my surprise she said “we do not have food enough for your family” and told us to wait until the other guests leave the lounge. While waiting we watched the lady let 15-25 guests come in easily. I decided not to say anything until 45 mins later when i noticed the line was getting longer. We still have another 2.5 hrs until boarding and I wanted my family to have a comfortable area to use while waiting for our flight. I went back and asked the lady if we could go in and immediately said no as there are other priorities now. I was getting frustrated and felt being discriminated so I asked the lady to explain her rationale again and insisted she was giving us a different treatment because of our race. As soon as i mentioned the RACE word she asked us to skip the line and started accommodating us. As we were all getting settled in and enjoying the lounge the guy in the photo, Lounge Manager, approached my family to confirm the conversations I had with her front desk staff. I immediately said Yes and stood by my comment about being discriminated and being profiled by the lady. He said the racism comment was uncalled for. To my defense, she may not have said it directly but the way she treated me and my family and the comment about not having enough food for my family was more than enough to make us all feel inferior. The Manager told us that had he been the one at the reception he would have denied us as well for the same reason.
Denmark has been known as the Happiest Country in the world but never realized that this country is home to some racist people such as these two individuals.
These two individuals need some schooling on Inclusivity...
Read moreExpectations vs. reality: they said priority pass admission was limited, but my guest and I did get in they said they had showers, but they have one shower, and it's the first airport lounge shower I've encountered that is not truly "free" (more like 7 euros or so). I travelled from the us, so I looked forward to this and felt a little let down. FRA, for instance, has a number of showers for any traveler for about this price, and very nice. Certainly, it is nice that the entire Katstrup international airport can have at least one shower for all of the tired and sweaty international travellers connecting through it. We do appreciate it. ;-) insufficient number of women's restrooms (always a wait, sometimes long). Maybe add another gender neutral or handicapped somewhere, or indicate where there are more bathrooms outside the lounge? Very nice beer, coffee, and food, the wine was a nice option but the shiraz I had was just ok. The view was very nice, but the day I went most of the window seats were too hot to sit at for any time, and the shaded ones were full. The staff was very polite and helpful. The shower rules and that it was for pay seemed unclear, except that there were no towels except for pay. It may be that there is not a sufficient number of staff to deal also with the shower, and that is why it is unclear. Too bad, it is a nice amenity for what I presume is a pay lounge.
So the lounge is fine, and I gather it's the best in Katstrup, maybe the airport itself just needs some upgrades for connecting passengers and...
Read moreThe lounge itself , is very basic. Nice views , but no place where you can actually relax, in peace and quietness, detaching from loud laughter of travelers and receptionist: disturbing .
Food ( breakfast ) : poor. Dried scrambled eggs tasteless. Poor assortment of breads.
Cleanness: it’s morning and the toilets were clearly showing the signs ( no further details needed, I believe) Showers room : Some hooks on the wall would be useful, so you’d be able to hang your your clothes while showering. But what has made my experience at the lounge, terrible from the very first moment is the welcome desk. Unfriendly ,and disrespectful lady who , instead of a “good morning and welcome”answered to my “ Goodmorning “ with a “ hmm hmm” and no remote sign of a smile. Not enough ,when asked my destination , she stated I could stay only up to 3h. ( I would have needed to leave the lounge earlier than that ).
Now : dear lady don’t assume I wound not know lounges rules. I am a guest , a paying guest. I spend more time in lounges and airport than in my home. Don’t tell guests what they can’t do. rather smile and make feel welcome.
@Lounge’s manager: choose the welcome personnel accurately. This was my first time at the lounge, and despite it will be very convenient for me , and my departure area for the next year , I will rethink about returning, should my second attempt to use your services be as “ unpleasant “as...
