In this place with its beautiful Cathedral and gardens and AC Club there you can feel what means really to be sisters&brothers with all honest peoples on this Earth!!! The Franciscan Friars are GREAT !!! They hug ALL honest and good persons and it's not important what faith have these persons!!! In fact GOD created everything and us humans too, but all these many different religions are only products of us humans!!!! For our good GOD is not important if we are Christians or Muslims or Hebrews or Buddhists etc......., for our beloved original father GOD is only important that we humans are honest and have a good and clean soul=mind and that we love each other !!!! Amen.

It was built from 1847 to 1856 in the Neo-Baroque style, designed by the Franciscan architect Serafino da Baceno. In 1927, the current facade, designed by the Italian architect Mario Avena in the Roman Baroque style was added. It was the place of burial of exiled Italian king Victor Emmanuel III upon his death in 1947 until his remains were repatriated to Italy in 2017. The place needs more attention and maintenance, especially the interior part.

مكان تحفةمعمارية.🌹كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" في الإسكندرية🌹 ♦️كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" بمنطقة المنشية في الإسكندرية تحفة هندسية معمارية وأيقونة فنية تراثية تاريخية نادرة لها طابع وتصميم معماري له بصمة الجمال والشياكة والعراقة والرقي والأناقة والإبداع والفخامة والضخامة والروعة والثقافة والفن المعماري .. ♦️كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" كاتدرائية رومانية كاثوليكية وتعد من أهم وأبرز الكنائس الأثرية في الإسكندرية وهي إحدى أهم التحف المعمارية الموجودة بمدينة الإسكندرية .. ♦️شيدت كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" على أنقاض كنيستين : الكنيسة الأولى بنيت عام 1632م في العصر العثماني وكانت مخصصة لرهبان الفرنسيسكان بالأراضي المقدسة ثم تهدمت ، والكنيسة الثانية أقيمت عام 1834م على أنقاض الكنيسة القديمة وتم بنائها على مساحة أكبر بعد أن قام "محمد علي باشا" والي مصر بمنح الرهبان الفرنسيسكان في عام 1832م مساحة أكبر من الأرض ولكن المبنى تصدع لعيوب في البناء وإنهار وتهدم في عام 1842م ، وتم بناء كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" على أنقاضها .. ♦️المهندس المعماري الإيطالي Serafino De Baceno "سيرافينو دي باسينو" قام بتصميم مبنى كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" وقام بالإشراف على بنائها وتشييدها في عام 1845م ، وقام المهندس المعماري الإيطالي Mario Avena "ماريو أفينا" بأعمال الترميم لمبنى الكاتدرائية في عام 1920م .. ♦️تم تصميم وبناء مبنى كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" بالطابع المعماري "البازيليكي الروماني" Roman Basilica ، وبالطابع المعماري "الباروك" Baroque ، والروكوكو Rococo وهو مايزيد واجهتها من زخارف وتفاصيل تجعلها من الكنائس النادرة معماريا وفنيا في الإسكندرية ، وتعتبر من أكبر الكنائس في مصر وأغناها من الزخرفة ووفرة العناصر المعمارية .. ♦️الواجهة الرئيسية للكاتدرائية تنقسم إلى جزئين : جزء سفلي وجزء علوي ، الجزء السفلي عرضه 27 متر ويرتكز على أربع دعامات ويتقدمه أربع أزواج من الأعمدة على قاعدة مربعة وتنتهي الأعمدة بتاج إيوان ويصل بين العمودين دعامة من أعلى .. ♦️ويوجد بالجزء السفلي ثلاث مداخل للكاتدرائية : المدخل الرئيسي ويتوسط الواجهة الرئيسية وهو عبارة عن فتحة مستطيلة إتساعها 2 ونصف متر تغلق بباب خشبي من ضلفتين مقسم لعدة أقسام زخرفية تحتوي على أشكال نباتية وهندسية متداخلة ورمز رهبان الفرنسيسكان للأراضي المقدسة ، وهو أعلى من المدخلين الجانبين المتشابهين ويصل المداخل الثلاثة أربعة دعامات .. ♦️والجزء العلوي فيتقدم الواجهة زوجين من الأعمدة محملين على الزوجين من الأعمدة الأوسطين بالجزء السفلي ويحمل كل عامود دعامة مستطيلة ويتوجه تاج إيواني ويصل بين الأعمدة دعامة من أعلى ثم تنتهي بالفرنتون مثلث الشكل مغلق ويحتوي هذا الجزء على أربع أكتاف إثنين على اليمين وإثنين على اليسار .. ♦️والجزء العلوي يتوسطه نافذة مستطيلة معقدة بعقد نصف دائري يتوسطه كابول ويتقدمه حاجز من البرامق الحجرية على شكل القلل وعلى جانبي الحاجز عمودين ذا بدن أملس على قاعدة دائرية رخامية ينتهي بتاج كورنثي ويحمل كل منهما دعامة تنتهي بفرنتون مثلث الشكل مغلق .. ♦️على جانبي الباب الخشبي دعامتين تحملان عمودان ذا بدن أملس على قاعدة دائرية ويتوجه تاج كورنثي ويعلوه كابولين وكابول ثالث يتوسط أعلاه ثم ينتهي بفرنتون نصف دائري مفتوح يتوسط قاعدة رخامية تحمل تمثال للقديسة "سانت كاترين" .. ♦️تنقسم الكاتدرائية طوليا إلى ثلاثة أقسام جناح أوسط ومناحي جانبيين ويمتد الجناح الأوسط من الجنوب إلى الشمال .. ♦️إنشاء كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" منذ عهد حكم "محمد علي باشا" والي مصر كان للجالية الإيطالية التي عاشت لفترة طويلة في الإسكندرية .. ♦️الملك/"فيكتور إيمانويل الثالث" آخر ملوك إيطاليا والذي تم عزله عن الحكم بعد إلغاء الملكية في إيطاليا وإعلان قيام النظام الجمهوري وتم نفيه خارج إيطاليا إلى مصر وصدور حكم بمنع دخول أفراد العائلة المالكة إلى إيطاليا وتوجه إلى الإسكندرية وأقام فيها وتوفي في 28 ديسمبر 1947م وتم دفنه في كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" في الإسكندرية ، وطلبت الحكومة الإيطالية أخذ رفاته من الكاتدرائية بالإسكندرية لدفنها بجانب زوجته وتم نقل رفاته في شهر ديسمبر عام 2017م بحضور السفير الإيطالي والسفير الأمريكي وإثنين من المتخصصين للتأكد من أنه المدفون في الكاتدرائية ليدفن في مدينة "فيكوفورتي" الإيطالية بعد سبعين عاما من وفاته .. ♦️كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" تقع في 3 ميدان "سانت كاترين" - المنشية الصغرى - الإسكندرية .. ♦️كاتدرائية "سانت كاترين" تم تسجيلها برقم (92) في قائمة التراث والخاصة بالعقارات والعمارات والفيلات التراثية ذات القيمة المتميزة داخل محافظة الإسكندرية في الجهاز القومي...

This place is amazing. full width artefact sculptures and paintings.

It is truly a beautiful place to visit in Alexandria but in order to understand the significance and the importance of the sculptures paintings and other artefacts you will need a guide to explain to you what does it really mean and why it have been built.

People and monks there are really helpful and they love explaining stuff with real passion and amazing Faith.

There are an English speaking tour guidance guy there but they do not allow tourists to enter before 4 PM and remember to take your ID especially passport if you are a tourist like me.

THE MOST AMAZING PART IS SAINT CATHERINE REAL BODY FULLY COVERED WITH WAX AND A SAMPLE OF HAIR BLOOD WHO TURNED TO STONE WITH TIME AS A MIRACLE ACCORDING TO THEM.

you will never regret or feel that time passing when you are here in this amazing historically rich place with those...
