We recently spent a few days in Bordeaux and tried several local chocolatiers including La Maison Darricau along the atmospheric Rue de la Vieille Tour just to the east of Place Gambetta. This is a small and elegant family owned shop which has been making chocolates for four generations. We purchased a small bag of dark chocolate orangettes which we enjoyed while wandering the nearby streets. Much more enjoyed was the box of pralines, you can choose from many flavours behind the counter. All were good and the Sao Tome was incredible, a perfect dark chocolate, sweet & bitter combination with smooth texture. Would buy an entire box of this one next time around. We really enjoyed this chocolate shop in Bordeaux. Had a nice conversation with the lady in the shop. You can tell she loves her shop and business and has real passion for serious and delicious chocolates.

fabulous- have been buying chocolate there for 10 years and they are always great - interesting flavors make the difference! family no other staff are friendly and wrap in thermal paper for ease of shipping home in suitcases.

New store is wonderful design and has sorbets and ice cream too. very pretty and new flavors.

Commande effectuée sur Internet pour les Pâques de mes enfants, suite à l'affluence vecue à Noël où certains chocolats étaient en rupture de stock. Cette fois tranquilisée par le biais de ma commande, gage de réservation des chocolats attendus, je me rend en boutique pour la retirer le samedi, veille du dimanche Pascal. La vendeuse m'annonce qu'elle n'a pas ma commande. L'excuse est que les commandes internet sont disponibles sous 48h (le mail de confirmation de ma commande ne stipule évidemment rien à ce sujet) Grosse déception évidemment, en particulier pour mes enfants dont un est à mes côtés et surtout AUCUN geste commercial. Pas même un ballotin de chocolat pour ma progéniture qui repart sans gourmandise. Plus question pour moi, mais aussi mes proches, clients fidèles du magasin, de remettre les pieds chez Darricau. Certes, les chocolats sont savoureux, mais pas au point d'excuser une relation client aussi...
