My girlfriend and I stayed at the Dormy House last weekend. The weather was stunning and we wanted to go and see the view from the top of the hill near the Golf course. I was taking some pictures and my girlfriend was walking slightly ahead of me. When reaching the top, a car pulled by her, the man driving steer at my girlfriend and said « what are you looking for, this is a private property, you’ve got nothing to do here ». My girlfriend speaks a little bit French but she didn’t quite understood what the man was saying from the other side of a noisy 406. Despite being slightly behind, I did hear the message as well as the inappropriate tone. I introduced myself to the man who didn’t see me coming and expressed my stupefaction since the top of the hill contains a few places opened to the public including a restaurant. I tried to engage with the man who didn’t look at me and pretended to be busy manoeuvring. It seemed obvious to me that the man acted inappropriately because he thought that my girlfriend was by herself, vulnerable enough to accept the humiliation. “Humiliation” because a few meters ahead of us, a white couple who were enjoying the view hadn’t been accosted by this man. We had absolutely no intention to play golf that day. We just wanted to snap a picture or two from the top of the hill and perhaps have some lunch at the restaurant. My girlfriend genuinely felt excluded from this place because of the colour of her skin. Overall a very disappointing experience that tainted our impression...
Read moreOutstanding! There is so much to love about this golf course. Much is down to mother nature and the stunning scenery you are able to drink in along the Normandy cliffs.
However there is much more to like…the relatively new clubhouse complex is excellent. The bar and dining area offers views of the 18 green and out to the English Channel. The changing areas are modern and spacious.
The food experience is top end restaurant quality at reasonable prices is to be recommended. Booking in the evening is probably essential.
Last but not least the pro shop is possibly one of the nicest I have ever visited. A broad array of Etretat embroidered apparel and equally diverse golf accessories too. Something for everybody as there are loads of different colour...

The staff at Golf d'Etretat were exceptional in calling the local ambulance immediately and helping us with towels, water and whatever else we needed. They translated everything for us to the local EMT's and really made us feel comfortable through this harrowing ordeal.
Special thanks to Marie for handling this unfortunate situation so well. We feel so lucky that we were in such a friendly and helpful place when this happened. We are extremely happy with the level of service that was shown to us.
The golf course is absolutely beautiful as well and I will be back to finish my round someday....
