Excellent experience and well worth the money. This is a foodie town and you will need several days to truly enjoy it. Recommend that you take the tour when you first get into town
Our tour guide was named Ally. She is a sommelier and is working towards her Master's degree.
Not only did we get to sample a lot of great dishes and drinks, but she gave us a history lesson of the town and showed how it influenced the local cuisine. Ally told us a little about each merchant and helped explain the food and drinks. She also took the time to point out several outstanding establishments that were not on our itenery.
Ally is a very knowledgeable, articulate, and bright person. She is very out going and exuded a passion for fine dinning; which made it alot of fun for the entire group.
The tour was well thought out. She toted a wagon which included rain ponchos for the group, wet naps, napkins, sanitizer hand gel, bottled water, and brochures of the places we visited (which were handed out at the end).
Overall, a fun and entertaining...
Read moreOur family of eight adults and two small children (ages 5 and 3) had an exceptional experience with Ally on a food tour of Nice. As a sommelier and chef who caters privately, Ally was seemingly born for this job, but that doesn’t account for her effervescent personality or deep love of the city, its history, art, architecture and culture.
Like a culinary Mary Poppins she is constantly reaching into her tote bag on wheels at just the right time for water, wine, wipes or whatever else is needed. The food stops were well-paced, varied and delicious, with highlights for me being ultra-fresh socca and some of the best, freshest oysters I’ve ever had, procured at an open-air market shopped by locals, not tourists. Bottles of Provençal white and rose kept popping up everywhere. We had so much to eat I really wasn’t prepared for the multi-course, family-style sit down lunch or top-notch gelato at the very end.
I can’t recommend Ally enough and there’s no question that her tour was a highlight of the week for our entire family,...
Read moreMy husband and I spent a couple of days in Nice in October of 2016. We wanted to make the most of our time and decided to sign up for the food and wine tour to get a real sense of what Nice has to offer in the food realm. We had SUCH a great time on this tour. Not only was our tour guide, Kelly, amazing, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but everything we tried was delicious! I particularly enjoyed the traditional Nicoise lunch and the rose served with it was so amazing that I went back to the local wine shop we visited earlier in the tour to pick up 2 bottles to take home! I would highly recommend this tour. You learn so much about the history of the City, as well as taste the traditional food and drink. You see parts of the City that you may not have otherwise visited! We loved Nice and hope to be able to...
