Dined with family Total Bill: ₹4000 (approx)
I had high hopes for Haiku, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from both a service and food standpoint. We ordered a variety of dishes, but none met the expectations you'd expect from a place with Haiku's reputation, especially considering the steep prices. It genuinely hurts to pay ₹4000 for a meal that felt so underwhelming.
Wild Mushroom Truffle Oil This dish was a letdown from the start. The mushrooms lacked any depth of flavor, and the truffle oil was barely noticeable. It felt bland and under-seasoned, and the portion size did not justify the price.
California King Crab Roll Sushi The sushi roll was far from fresh. The crab tasted off, and the rice was dry. It lacked the delicate texture and flavor balance that makes sushi enjoyable. For a restaurant claiming to specialize in sushi, this was quite disappointing.
Matcha Lemonade Thai Cooler This drink was one of the few highlights, but even it fell short. The balance between the matcha and lemonade was off, with the matcha being too overpowering and the drink overly sweet.
Spicy Ramen Chicken The ramen arrived lukewarm, and the broth was bland and lacked the richness expected in a good ramen. The chicken was dry and chewy, and the spice level was far too mild for a dish labeled "spicy."
Chicken Wings The wings were greasy and undercooked in some parts, making them inedible. The sauce lacked punch, and the overall presentation was sloppy. A big miss.
Service Adding to the unsatisfactory food, the service was subpar. The waitstaff seemed uninterested and inattentive, and we had to wait long for refills and follow-ups on our orders. Despite bringing up some of our concerns, there was no effort to address the issues or make up for the poor experience.
Price & Value The biggest issue was the sheer lack of value for the money spent. Paying ₹4000 for such a lackluster meal is simply unacceptable. The quality and taste of the dishes do not justify the high prices at all. For this amount, you expect exceptional quality, and this experience fell far short. It genuinely stings to pay so much for a meal that left us unsatisfied.
Overall, I expected a lot more from Haiku in terms of both food quality and service. The dishes were overpriced for what was delivered, and I left the restaurant feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. I hope the management can address these issues to provide a better dining experience...
Read moreGood Japanese cuisine is always hard to find in India, but Haiku was a totally lovely experience. Having had sushi in many places, like Mamagoto, etc., the sushi in Haiku was fresh with tender and deep flavors, the best sushi i have ever had. I ordered a half and half of the California Maki and the Philadelphia Roll. Both were delicious. The salmon and carb were both really fresh, and eating them felt like a little symphony was playing in my mouth! All in all, the best sushi I have eaten so far. I paired the sushi with some lavender white tea. The aroma was so pleasant and soothing, and even though I usually dont like teas, this was really sublime. Ebi Tempura Udon is another dish i had. The ebi was really fresh and the tempura batter was perfection, and the udon noodles were chewy and flavorsome. Although i did not enjoy the broth, it was quite salty with no deep flavor. Chicken Katsu was also pretty tasty. Nobody does crunchy batter better than Japanese. The chicken had an amazing panko crust fried golden brown. It was delicious. The sauce given was also really good.
Apart from the food, the decor of the restaurant was really nice. But the highlight were the dishes. All the cups and saucers or teapots or plates were all really pretty. They all had a little bit of character in them. Felt nice to eat out of something like that. Kinda boring to use the same standard big white plate.
The restaurant is definitely a must visit. I will hopefully...
Read moreWe dined together with our family to celebrate our daughter birthday. Overall experience I rate as good but not very good. I ordered Sushi as starter and few other hot dishes to be as main course. I repeated the order and once again I told what to bring first and what later.
Waiter made a mess and served hot main course dishes first and when I asked for Sushi because I was annoyed then he started bringing the sushi saying Chefs made a mistake by sending hot dishes before Sushi.
Service was also lousy because the wait staff are busy chatting between themselves than paying attention to the tables. I have to call few times a staff member to serve water.
Overall wait staff requires service training and listening skills.
Salt & pepper water chestnuts were overly spiced and there is a very strong flavour of spice and ginger so you do not taste water chestnuts at all.
Crispy lamb is not crispy at all and overly spiced and it is really spicy and you do not feel lamb at all and it is not crispy.
Korean crispy chicken is good and again it is not crispy and hot.
Vegetable tempura was excellent. sushi is very good but do not expect a quality like Sushi in Japan.
Overall my expectations are not met so I rate this place as good. I will certainly return for...
