I have been eating from here since my childhood days. Some things have remained constant with time, the items on the menu, the people who are at the counter. The shop has changed its look many times to keep pace with the changing times but their Samosa is still the same.
They are a renowned Mithai Shop in Dadar for many many years. I have bought Malai Pedha, my favourite, from here after passing out of all major exams. But apart from the plethora of sweet meats & namkeens, my interest lies in the counter which has access from the outside; The Snacks Counter.
They have a limited menu, just like any other Mithai shop. Bhajia, Batata Wada, Patra [Aluu Wadi], Samosa, Pattice [Sweet filling made of coconut shavings encased in a mashed Potato layer and deep fried], Khaman Dhokla, Khandvi & Kachori.
In the morning, all the items are served with shredded raw Papaya and green chillies. But the real fun of the snacks is in the evening when they served with 2 chutneys; a yummy tangy brown and spicy green. I am biased towards the brown tangy chutney and wipe it off my plate in a jiffy and also lick my fingers off for any left over. I prefer to parcel items from here as they give some extra quantity of chutney than when you eat at the counter.

Read moreDadar TT is synonymous with two important landmarks, the historically significant Khodadad Circle, and for sweet indulgence - D. Damodar Mithaiwala. In fact, D. Damodar Mithaiwala is almost as old as the Khodadad Circle, being established in 1937. Serving patrons for over 75 years, the shop has developed a faithful clientele, not only all over Mumbai, but even overseas. The daily snacks fly off the shelves almost as soon as they are prepared. Prominent amongst these are the samosas, potato wadas, alu wadi, kachori, pattice & the recently introduced sabudana wadas (the last two are excellent options for those who are fasting) The most awaited though are the weekend specials, including the "melting in your mouth" delectable white dhoklas, kothimbir vadi, and the specially made to order ameri khaman. In addition, there's a large variety of takeaway ready-to-eat dry farsans & chiwdas. Of course, any talk about D. Damodar is woefully incomplete without mentioning the almost limitless varieties of freshly prepared sweets: the gulabjams, the pedas & barfis, the kaju katris, you name it, they have it. They even have specially made sugar free varieties...
Read moreD Damodar it's located in the Dadar TT circle in the busy street. It's a Sweet Shop (Mithaiwala) well known for it fast food like Vada, samosa, galebe etc. It really famous in the area and in the morning and evening there is a really big crowd of people. As soon as the food are made they served every hot and within minutes it just finished already in the rush time you will literally have to wait for like 15 to 20 minutes to get something. I really like the samosa and there mix bajiya with the chutney they served its really delicious and tasty buying 1 plate is not going to enough for you. Since it's a Sweet Shop there are varieties of sweet and snacks time pass in the shop to buy. The only thing I don't like that sometimes it's really gets crowded and there no place to sit you have to stand and eat also they don't served water which is really needed there.
