I returned from Florenceâs retreat in Rajasthan a week ago. I have so many wonderful memories of this very special retreat. All three locations were excellent. our first location was The Lake side retreat with Yoga held outside by the lake under the shade of the beautiful old tree. The vegetarian Indian food served was excellent, my favourite! Then onto the Castle hotel for 5 nights. What a magical place this is. I believe it is 300 years old and the architecture is something to behold. The atmosphere is relaxed and itâs easy to find your mind drifting to bygone times and imaging how it was residing here for the Rajasthan royal family in its earlier life. Our yoga teacher Asha held sessions twice a day on a roof top area with shade for when it was hot. We watched monkies in the nearby trees and experienced sunset after a session. Bliss! Asha catered for all of the different levels of ability and made everyone feel relaxed. I really appreciated Ashaâs approach to yoga and how she incorporated mindfulness and gratitude meditation into our sessions. We Had trips out into the surrounding area . Being able to see how the local people lived. We were served tea in china cups out in the wilderness sitting on the edge of a massive water dam watching the bird life and the sun setâŚ..yes, I know itâs just magical! For me and I know my fellow guests feel the same the small group of ladies really bonded and we shared so much together. I feel so privileged to have been part of this retreat. Our last three nights were spent in a very different location with very different experiences. The magical Udaipur, with its stunning architecture and Floating palaces . The hotel we stayed in was featured in the film The best exotic marigold hotel . Obviously chosen for its stunning views from the roof top bar and restaurant. I thank Florence for putting together this life changing experience. We were looked after so very well and I will hold onto all the memories I have of the...
Read moreTo misquote Withnail and I - I came to this retreat by mistake! I booked the âPositive Life Changes with Dr Maxine Steadâ in September 2025, not reading the description properly........
And I am so glad I didn't as I would have missed out on the experience of the lifetime! I would never have booked a weekend of reflection and meditative practice, I would have thought it wasn't for me - how wrong I was.
A beautiful setting in St Marks Stays in the stunning Sedburgh couldn't even be ruined by the rain..... in my view, no weather can ever spoil the beauty of the Lake District - and frankly if you go to the lakes and are disappointed when it rains, you need your head testing :-)
Florence and Maxine are 2 of the most beautiful human beings I have ever met, golden souls who made the environment calm and supportive. Florence was the perfect host, the food was amazing all weekend and the little touches in each room were wonderful. The sound bath on Saturday was incredible, I've never experienced anything like it.
I was a bit worried about the reflections and the meditations - but in my view we couldn't have been in better hands than Maxine's. The spiritual calmness after each session was tangible and, I know I keep saying it, like nothing I've ever experienced.
The group of women had all come on the retreat for different reasons and I think we all left feeling empowered and able to make the positive changes we needed to - perhaps in our own time and own way - but definitely with the feeling we could do it.
I've read some other the other reviews and I'd like to echo the comments - don't think, just book. You will not regret it.
And when you go, be sure to ask Florence about her Farrah Fawcett memorabilia collection - I guarantee one of the strangest conversations of...
Read moreI wasn't sure what to expect. Having been looking at retreats for 18 months and dreaming about some time out.
Spur of the moment, 3 weeks before the date, I booked the 'retreat like it's 1999" retreat in November 2025.
Well I can say retreating is for me, Florence kindly organised me a room with a bath so I could bring my salts, read my book and get that much needed brain silence, Florence is very responsive on the run up to the retreat and reassured any of us who were nervous.
St Marks is a gorgeous house, perfect for entertaining and those wanting a get away. The rooms are comfortable and stylish.
The yoga was restful and calming and allowed me time to connect with my mind and body. I'm looking forward to another sound bath, as Florence's was something I had never experienced before. The vegan food was delicious (I am a meat eater) and it was a real treat not having to think of what to cook and eat.
The hikes were challenging and for me, really glad I packed the walking boots, I could have done with bringing some of my own sticks as it is not a bridal way or established path, in some parts very slippy and flooded (mainly due to the unpredictable weather). The views were outstanding and so calming to be out in nature, so all worthwhile. The mill was amazing and I will go back with my family for sure to learn to weave and spend the day there.
Really loved my 3 night retreat, in honesty 3 nights just...
