I’ve attended two taster sessions and have thoroughly enjoyed them both. Ronaldo is a fantastic teacher and very passionate about the craft of pottery. He has a kind and patient approach to teaching beginners, and he understands that as adults we are constantly trying not to fail or make mistakes and learning pottery requires you to be ok with messing things up. He takes you through the basics from kneading the clay through to “throwing” and learning to apply pressure and shape the clay on the wheel.
You get three attempts to shape clay into whatever you want - I made a few bowls and plenty of misshapen accidents along the way! And Ronaldo will glaze two of the three for you to collect a month later as the drying, kiln and glazing process takes some time.
It’s such a lovely experience to work with your hands and create something. Ronaldo’s teaching style is very friendly, calm and incredibly supportive. I’ll be signing up for a third taster session and I hope to complete one of his courses...

I'm currently enrolled in a six-week evening course during weekdays, and I must say, it's been quite an enriching experience. While I've dabbled in pottery before, this place offers a refreshingly different approach compared to others I've attended.
This term, I focused on slab building, which allowed me to explore new dimensions in my work. Additionally, I revisited the wheel after a considerable hiatus.
I've found myself putting in more thought process into the pieces I've made and the construction process than ever before. The studio layout and facilities are conducive to creativity, and I'm hopeful that as the year progresses, I'll be able to rent a dedicated space to pursue my pottery.
If you're seeking a dynamic environment to nurture your pottery aspirations, and also have fun this place might just be the...
Read moreI booked the taster session after seeing someone I follow online mentioning it is black owned. I’ve always had an interest in pottery and have done a few taster sessions. This however was incredibly detailed and Ronaldo took his time to give everyone pointers. (We were a smaller class which of course made this easier!) He went through the whole process from lumps of clay, removing air bubbles and how to prep for the wheel. Not getting too attached to pieces we create and the messy and fun side of getting your hands dirty! Ronaldo offered us the option of playing our own music and was incredibly friendly. It was a warm and safe environment to learn. He mentioned they also run sip and pottery evening events which sounds amazing! I look forward to seeing my finished pieces and plan on returning to explore...
