Sulla facciata della chiesa è indicato il 1510 come anno di fondazione, tuttavia la sua realizzazione potrebbe essere spostata al 1596. La chiesa fu costruita per sostituire l'antica Parrocchia di Santa Maria di Costantinopoli mentre alcuni locali (la sagrestia e l'oratorio) furono recuparati dalla precedente Chiesa di San Carlo o sulla stessa area. Grazie alla costruzione della chiesa iniziò il popolamento della zona di Anacapri. Descrizione La chiesa è nella parte centrale di Anacapri, nel luogo denominato Le Pietre. Essa si apre su un ampio sagrato, è in stile barocco, a tre navate priva di transetto. La navata centrale presenta una volta a botte con unghie finestrate, mentre le due laterali voltate, divise dalla principale mediante pilastri e mura con lesene sorreggenti archi, presentano anche volte a vela. Lungo le navate si aprono cinque cappelline, tutte diverse nella forma e di diverso periodo di costruzione. L'abside è a pianta quadrata.
