Ristorante Materita Pizzeria — Restaurant in Anacapri

Sat down here and ordered one pizza for lunch time. We were likely the (if not one of) the first customers of the day, there was nobody else in the restaurant. 25 minutes later, there was no follow-up, no food. We checked in and they said it would be out shortly. 10 minutes later (35 minutes total), still no food brought out. We opted to pay for the water we were served and left.

Normally I would not leave a negative review for very delayed food, whether the kitchen is backed up or they forgot about it or maybe they just took their time. However, the lady became very combative and argumentative with us when we decided to leave. Very poor customer service and hospitality. This is something that could’ve been easily nipped with a simple “I am so sorry we could not meet your expectations, thank you for paying for the water, please try us again another time”.

Located in the heart of Anacapri, this restaurant is an absolute gem! We were warmly welcomed by Susanna, the wonderful owner. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding, and every dish burst with flavor. Chef Andrea, Susanna’s son, is a true culinary artist. His Gnocchi alla Sorrentina and Scialatielli ai Frutti di Mare were masterpieces. The pizza and starters were also fantastic. Prices a little to high (e.g. 10-12€ for a cocktail), ordered a Sorentto-Tomato salad, got a whole tomato cut into with a little bit of basil, olive oil and and that was it for 7€. Even the bread they served was hard and unenjoyable and unaesthetic. The staff was friendly enough to explain the service charge, we didn’t know about (2€ per person). Nevertheless the food was delicious and all in all it was an ok place to spend an hour at in the noon. Not recommendable, though. I reckon there are better alternatives...
