Disappointing Service at a Beautiful Location
Despite Cala Maka's stunning location, our experience was marred by consistently poor service throughout our visit.
Initial Arrival Issues: Upon arrival, the staff member handling reservations appeared disinterested and unhelpful, offering no guidance on how to order or information about restaurant vs. bistro opening hours. Our assigned beach bed was dirty with empty bottles and cigarette butts left behind, and we had to wait an unreasonably long time just to get a drink. We even had to take a table from another bed area ourselves.
Restaurant Experience: When hunger struck, we headed to the restaurant only to sit there for over 20 minutes without any service. Despite numerous staff members being present, not a single person approached us to take our order. After finally flagging someone down, we were curtly informed that "the kitchen is closed" - information that apparently was only available on their website and should have been communicated upon arrival or during our lengthy wait.
Bistro Alternative: Fortunately, the bistro was still serving food, and the staff there were notably more friendly and accommodating than their colleagues.
Additional Frustrations: The final straw was being told we couldn't order water at the beach club - an absurd policy that shows a complete lack of customer service awareness.
Overall Assessment: While Cala Maka boasts an absolutely gorgeous location that should be a pleasure to visit, the service quality is simply unacceptable. The staff seem disengaged, communication is poor, and basic hospitality standards are not met. This is particularly disappointing given the venue's potential.
I cannot recommend Cala Maka in its current state, despite the beautiful setting. The management needs to address these service issues systematically across the organization before this location can live up to its potential.
Would not return or recommend until significant...
Read moreDuring holidays in les pouilles, we wanted to find a nice place in order to relax. So after checking some few places on google, we thought that this beach club would be the perfect place to relax. What a huge mistake ! In my entire life, I have rarely see so much unprofessional people. When we arrived, we faced really unbothered and unpleasant people at the counter. They barely talked to us (because we were talking in English) and almost ignored us. They briefly presented us the different options, without mentioning prices (because why would they do this ?). And after paying, they just showed us the place where we could stay and dropped us. We could just see that it was a burden to show us our reservation … After we settled on the bed and received a lot of weird look from the staff (really mean look that just meant why are you there ?) , how surprise were we when the same lady (who took our order) was introducing the whole place to Italian customers I’m not talking about showing them their seat, I’m here talking about showing them the whole resort, stoping to several spots and explaining all the stuff the resort has to offer. So I guess if you are Italian it « «might » be a good place. But if you are a tourist I really advice to go to another beach club because it seems that they don’t like tourist. You’ll easily be welcome better in any...
Read moreGreat looking place with a great lunch. But it stops there. Paid 600€ for 3 mattresses (5 people). Had to ask 2 times for towels. No water was included in the steep price. No one told us anything about how to order drinks, food, where the toilet are, a lady just pointed at the beds. Managed to order 5 bottles of water, one coke, one beer, a tiny cappuccino and a small glass of orange juice - for 40€. The water was barely cold and no ice was offered (on a 42 degrees hot day). The juice was 5 €, and the kind you buy in a discount supermarket. There’s plenty of staff - but didn’t see a single one on the beach for 6 hours, except a single one that snug in from behind and removed the cups from the coffee etc. At lunch we ordered a bottle of wine. We actually told the waiter to choose between 2 of around 40€. He came back and told us they weren’t available, and showed us on at 80€. Such bad style! And there were other wine available in the 40€ range. When we returned from lunch our bottles of water were gone. Exaggerated price level compared to the quality and service. Usually we are not hung up on prices - but when there’s such a big discrepancy between quality/service and price it starts to bother you. The place was almost empty, and we’re not coming back to stay at the beach. Too bad as we live part time...
