I bought a coat at Mercatino Milano Centrale. When I got home, I discovered that the coat had been eaten by moths. It was placed in the “luxury” section, and no defects were indicated. Due to the poor lighting in the store, the damage wasn’t noticeable at the time of purchase.
The next day, I returned to ask for an exchange, as the coat is completely unwearable in such condition. The staff told me, “Well, it’s wool — moths are normal.” Seriously? None of my arguments had any effect. I’m convinced they were well aware of the defects. I told them I would just throw the coat away and left it there. In return, I received a lot of rude remarks — including “via,” “go out,” and other offensive words — and was basically kicked out of this “wonderful” store.
I used to be a fan of the Mercatino network, but this place has completely disappointed me with its total lack of customer care. I will never return. It seems that losing loyal customers doesn’t bother them at all.
It was the first time I experienced such treatment.
I love vintage clothing and I’m not looking for the cheapest deals. But throwing away 50 euros for nothing feels frustrating and unfair.
Maybe you’ll find something you like here, but if a problem arises, you’ll just get insulted and shown the door. There’s a clear discrimination against foreigners who come here and spend significant amounts of money. They are deliberately misleading customers.
It’s a shame I didn’t read the reviews before visiting.
I strongly recommend not going to this place under any...

I booked via email a chinese vase this morning as soon as it appeared on their website. Then, I phoned immediately to make sure that the mail arrived and that it is available, ie, that there are no other requests. The member of staff confirmed that I am the only one and said he would send me the email to pay for the item. I waited at home 2 hours, no email was sent. I called them, they were shut for lunch. After checking on their website, I saw the vase was sold, together with a successive Chinese vase to someone else!
I phoned them and I was literary told-" Signora, non facamo polemiche, il vaso e venduto, mi dispiace e arivederci".
I am shocked at this unprofessional behaviour of the staff of this mercatino. It seems they have priviledged customers that are served first and it makes no difference if you ask for something first-you will not get it. I am sure this is against the selling regulations and someone should look into this. Message for the owner-check what your staff are doing. Message for the other 10 people who also wanted to buy the small chinese flambe vase-you were screwed too.
Shameful and...
Read moreHours need to be updated on Google. We arrived at the shop Sunday during the posted open hours of 10:00 to 19:00. When we went to enter, the door was locked and there was a paper taped to the door telling people that during July and August, they will be closed on Sundays. Maybe we will be able to go back when they are actually open.
Update! We returned to the shop (not on a sunday) and it was open at the correct time. Very happy we tried again, because it is an amazing shop! Good prices on unique items! Definitely worth going and we...
