We had saved this place on our list of restaurants we wanted to visit during our visit in Sardinia and it was definitely the best choice. It even turned out that they were located second street from our hotel :) This restaurant as many other in Sardinia operates from 12pm-3pm and then opens again 7:30 pm to like 11pm and is super busy. We had a chance to catch a table first time for lunch without reservation but for dinner you definitely need one. The whole staff of people running the place is super nice and friendly and our server was great! The menu is simple, not overwhelming and the wine is incredible.
Octopus--very tender with braised fennel and lemon gel was a fantastic starter.
Ceviche--it was a deconstruction of typical way of serving ceviche with scallops, calamari, avocado puree-very refreshing and scallops were incredibly tender.
Beef tartar--served with seaweed, sweet sauce and crisp. Something towards asian flavors. The meat was very tender and you can judge it but quality.
Black pasta with seafood--my wife voted this one as the best one she had during our vacation in spain and Italy and she had quite a few :)
Gnocchi with lamb ragu--this one was a flavor burst enriched with deep flavor of lamb ragu, perfect dinner choice.
Ravioli (Culurgiones)--this was the best dish for us, we had it two times at our visits. Filled with potatoes which is very common choice for filling in Sardinia. Served with rich sauce, octopus tentacles and pistachios. Absolutely brilliant. Pairs with Vermentino wine like no other :)
Desert--coconut cream panna cota --rich and creamy served with nectarine was delicious however I would break the flavor with something more acidic and citrusy for a better balance.
We had visit few more places for food in Olbia but the vote stays for Piperita PAtty as number ONE for us. This place is a must go when you are in the city and I assure you will not be...
Read moreWe have been in this restaurant before and even if it never went completely smoothly it never reached the low level of last night. We had a RESERVATION at 9pm we got the table after more then 20 minutes waiting. at 10pm we were still waiting for someone to show up and taking our order. No water no drinks. We were ready to leave (we should have) when finally they took the order after more then 1 hour from our original reservation time. 2 starters, 2 mains, water, we asked for sparkling we got still, one cocktail one glass of wine. 30 minutes later we got the starters, mine was ok (octopus) my partners starter was so tasteless it was embarrassing. I asked for my tuna as main to be not raw but a bit more cooked, in my mind I was going to get a nice piece of tuna with a small red line in the middle and nice pink around, wrong I got a block of styrofoam. May be I should have said medium not cooked but what I got was inedible. Meanwhile we were still waiting for the cocktail. Entertainment of the evening were cockroaches running around under the feet of the customers seated outside. We were some of those customers.
We were really looking forward to have a relaxed nice evening but it happened to be a shamble from the beginning to the end.
If you cannot respect the reservations times do first come first serve basis so if I want to wait in line I do otherwise I find something else. If you don't have the men power to deliver a proper service have less tables and offer a better service or hire more staff.
We would have loved to have enjoyed our dinner may be having dessert and coffee of something more. Unfortunately we couldn't wait to leave the place. The table next to us actually ordered dessert and left without it because they had enough of waiting for it.
Pity they started good now they got greedy and cannot...
Read moreVery rude staff. we had a reservation at 9:30 came 30 minutes early and were told to come back. When we came back they gave our table away. Tried to improvise a table on the street and got very mad and yelled at us when we mentioned it. l want to specify that we booked ahead CALLING the restaurant and having our reservation confirmed before getting there and DEFINITELY NOT just showed up demanding a table. A manager/owner shoul know that and also should probably not call paying customers sheep (you will understand when you read her reply). People should also know that in my first review I elegantly left out the part where I was yelled at to leave because I had the audacity to say that the table was improvised and I didn't want to eat on the street while seated on a window. I am rude like that, I like my vacation to be comfortable and for my reservations to not only be taken but also kept. Don't worry, Piperita Patti (owner), "people like me" don't like to give money so that places like yours remain in business. I invite people to read other bad reviews on this page, all with similar experiences to mine and I advise the manager/owner to not take reservations anymore. Just use a first come first served method that is better suited for...
