To get there from Rome you can get a train ticket to Naples central station and then to Pozzuoli Solfatara station. 2e class takes around 4 hours. You can also buy the same not to expensive ticket and change lines at Villa Literno, it saves almost one hour and a lot of money, may not be perfectly legal but every Italian official will understand..... Best is to buy ticket from Roma Termini to Villa Literno and ticket from there to Pozzuoli Soflfatara, just 3 euro more. Walk to the smoking vulcano throug h 'Via Vigna' its beautiful, safe and quiet. Don't forget to visit the Arena and...

Wasn't quite sure what to expect when visiting this place but definitely glad I did so. The desolate caldera opens up on you quite unexpectedly; its vast size, the lack of life and the smell and sight of potted sulphur vents making it seem very other-worldly - almost as though human beings shouldn't really be there. Couldn't resist taking a closer look at some of the vents but paid for it in the form of some sulphur-stained clothing. Wear something old (or cover up well) would be my advice to those who...

I just took a look at the website and noticed a price of E560...seemed exorbinate. You can do much of this on your own, just for the price of a Metro ticket and a Cumana ticket. Assuming you're coming from Naples, take the Metropolitana to the end of the line in Pozzuoli. As you exit the station go right under the tracks and you'll see the second largest amphitheater in the...

We arrived not knowing that this was permanently closed due to some kid that thought it was a good idea to run off on his own, resulting in the parents chasing after him and them dying.. ruining it for everyone else. We were able to drive by and see it which was still nice. If you're in the area and want to drive by otherwise don't go out of your way since it is closed.

It is closed for public, BUT you can go around it on the road up hill.
