HATAGO 遊湯 — Local services in Beppu

Located in northern Beppu, a couple of blocks from the waterfront and 5 minutes walk from the best ramen place in Beppu. It is also very close to Kamegawa station, so convenient if arriving by train, but noise could be an issue for some. |Parking is available for a smallish car in front. No guest parking allowed outside the adjacent laundromat but extra parking a little way up the road if the full. |There is no lobby, so checkin is by phone, providing room number and access code number for the door. Receptionist English OK but not great. For those who haven’t used a door like this before, you touch the panel and the key pad will appear. Key in the code and door will open. To open from inside rotate the button to open position and pull the large door handle to the side. When closing the door it will lock automatically after a few seconds. You won’t see any staff unless you request room cleaning.|Hatago Yuyu appears to be fairly new. Rooms are clean, compact and well maintained. The walls between rooms are a little thin, which maybe an issue for some. Main room is tatami (so no shoes inside) with mattress and bedding in a cupboard which you lay out each night. Fridge, kettle, TV, microwave, clothes drying rack and wifi are included in the room. In the unit we hired there were also rooms with a basin, a toilet, and a spa room with a stone bath with room for two. |Instructions for the room facilities and equipment are all in Japanese, so translation apps are essential for Western visitors.|A good place for those seeking an authentic...

Esperienza orribile. Nel momento in cui ho aperto la porta del bagno mi è caduto uno scarafaggio addosso. Ho cercato di contattare la struttura in tutti i modi possibili (numero da loro lasciato, sia diurno che notturno, piattaforma dalla quale ho prenotato ) senza ricevere NESSUNA risposta. Mi sarei aspettata che qualcuno venisse quantomeno a controllare e che mi venisse proposto di cambiare stanza. Dopo innumerevoli tentativi ho abbandonato la struttura alle 22.30 in quanto l'episodio è stato molto sgradevole.
