Nawa Kamakura is an absolute gem—the perfect retreat to unwind, recharge, and indulge in a truly restorative sauna experience. From the moment I arrived, the service was nothing short of exceptional; the staff were so kind, welcoming, and attentive, making me feel completely at ease.
The sauna facilities here are unbelievable. The contrast between the intense heat of the sauna and the refreshing cold plunge in fresh spring mountain water was invigorating and left me feeling rejuvenated. I highly recommend staying at least two nights to fully immerse yourself in the tranquility of this place.
One of my favorite features was the hinoki bathtub—the aromatic scent of the Japanese cypress was so soothing, and soaking in it was pure bliss. The attention to detail throughout the stay was impressive, from the cozy yukatas to the indoor and outdoor slippers provided.
I also loved the fully equipped kitchen, which made it easy to prepare simple meals, and the great sound system added to the relaxing ambiance. Every aspect is designed for comfort and serenity.

Read moreI stayed at Niwa Kamakura recently, and honestly, it was one of the best hotel experiences in my life. The whole space just has this calming, peaceful vibe from the moment you walk in. It’s beautifully designed, minimal but super cozy, and you can tell how much thought went into every little detail.
The garden was probably my favorite part. I ended up spending way more time than I expected just sitting there, doing nothing, and enjoying how quiet and beautiful it is.
The host was so kind and welcoming, really warm and thoughtful. It felt like he genuinely cared about creating a good experience for us.
Also, the location is perfect. Tucked away enough to feel like an escape, but still close to all the spots in Kamakura.
If you’re looking for a place to slow down and reset, I can’t recommend it enough. I'll definitely go back.
This is a must stay in...

Yamamoto-san was a warm and thoughtful host, and the whole place just has a calm, relaxing energy. The sauna and baths were perfect for summer, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. It was great to relax and watch the light filter through the leaves.
