Kitakamakura Old Private House Museum — Attraction in Kamakura

This was such a hidden gem! The entry fee is very reasonable, and there was a lot to see! The hydrangea art exhibit was extensive, and the sculpture collection was very emotive. However, the real highlights were the home itself and the garden! There were so many types of hydrangea, and I appreciated that they had signs saying the variety of hydrangea in English and Japanese. The displays of traditional shibori tie-dyeing and Edo komon stencil dyeing included tools, methods, and many beautiful finished products. Some smaller works, and reproduction komon stencils, were available to buy at prices reasonable for hand-made articles.
