Yoh Shomei Art Museum — Attraction in Kamakura

We two stopped by to check out this museum. Two floors; takes no more than 30 minutes to view.

The contemporary artist whose works were being exhibited is quite well-known and viewing his works were worth the modest entrance fee. However, his works were displayed in a way that made them a challenge to view. The paintings were covered with glass or plastic that was highly reflective, and the bright overhead lights made it difficult to see the work hiding behind the reflected light, especially when viewed from a few paces away.

Perhaps the lighting issue is limited to this exhibition. Even if the lighting issue is resolved, I would visit again only if I happened to be in the area and had...

這是今天離開鎌倉前的最後一個景點，覺得有來真的太好了！因為館內禁止攝影，所以乾脆當下寫好心得。

才在一樓的繪本區停留一會兒就被充電滿滿，感謝葉祥明先生留下了如此豐沛的創作。

特別印象深刻的是一本名為 Call My Name...

「メルヘンと震災という相対する作品を展示。私は震災のコーナーが心に刺さった」

名前も作品も知りませんでしたが、友人に誘われ見に行きました。多くの作品や詞を見ていて、葉祥明さんの優しいお人柄がわかった気がしました。

メルヘン作家として活躍されているみたいで、絵は基本的に天使というか、どこかファンタジーっぽいものが多いです。でも1階に展示されている作品のほとんどは、東日本大震災に関するもので、その意外性に驚きました。当時の被災者の心境という悲劇を、メルヘン作家という真逆にいる画家が、一体どういう心境でこの絵を描いたのか…そんなことを考えると、きっとこの人は困っている人のことを考えると、何かせずにいられない優しい人なのかなと思いました。
